Michael Jackson can’t seem to stay out of court this year.
So far 2005 has seen Michael Jackson in his big child molestation trial, and also for a case of sexual assault that a New Orleans man alleged happened in 1984. And now a court in California wants him to turn up for jury service.
It’s unlikely that Michael Jackson (CDs) will turn up for his jury service
after a jury summons was delivered to his Neverland ranch home in
California, because he is no longer a resident of America.
Since Jackson was acquitted of ten counts of child molestation in court in
July, he has been living as a guest of the Bahrain royal family.
Jackson’s lawyer, Thomas Mesereau,
said: "He is permanently living outside of the United States".
California Jury Commissioner Gary Blair is also doubtful that Michael Jackson will take his place on the jury, "All
he has to do is show he has legal residency somewhere else and he’ll be
exempted," he said, adding that he once tried to summons Ronald Reagan
for jury service, but gave him a deferment.
Meanwhile, Femalefirst reports that Michael Jackson – ostensibly in
London recording his Hurricane Katrina single – recently shocked hotel staff by
answering to a knock on his door dressed up as Mickey Mouse while
several children dressed as characters from Peter Pan jumped on his bed. Words – for once – fail us.
