Back To The Future is one of those film franchises that people mistake for being a series of great movies. They really weren’t. They were fun and deserve to be cult favourites… but great? Nah.
Either way, the adventures of Marty McFly are still hugely loved and have been tarted up just in time for the release of Back to the Future: 25th Anniversary Trilogy. Once again, it’ll remind the sad 2% of the British public of those free books you got free with Shreddies way back when.
However, things could have been so very, very different as Eric Stoltz was originally cast in the role of Marty McFly and you can watch a video over the jump which shows this alternate universe.
Yes indeed, Michael J. Fox wasn’t the first choice for the film and a clip from the special features of the remastered trilogy looks at a Back to the Future which saw the lead taken by Eric Stoltz.
Who?
Stoltz played Rocky Dennis in ‘Mask’ alongside Cher, as well as starring in Killing Zoe, The Waterdance, Kicking and Screaming and Pulp Fiction.
There’s a good chance you still can’t quite place him. Never mind.
Director Robert Zemeckis had second thoughts on Stoltz and recast the role of McFly five weeks into production.
