The Former Friends actress was left reeling after her new show The Comeback was axed by HBO. That ‘piss poor’ quote is our own by the way. What? We can quote ourselves!
The Comeback did have a tantalising premise; once-famous sitcom star Valerie Crush (Lisa Kudrow) desperately tries to regain the big time after her career hits the skids. Nice idea, but a little too knowing in an Oceans 12-smart-arse kind of way.
Audiences thought so as well. An average of just 1.5 million people tuned in over thirteen episodes, and that’s a failure, darlin’.
"(writer) Michael Patrick King and Lisa Kudrow developed a uniquely original series. However, we looked at our schedule, and, given our future commitments, we felt we would not be able to give the show the support it needed."
In other words, it was a load of old pony.
Fans of Lisa Kudrow (DVDs) will obviously be disappointed to learn such news, but for those of us sick to the back teeth of her one-joke character whining her way through a decade of Friends this was the early Christmas present we were looking for.
Matt LeBlanc will be glad of the break too. Strike one off the Friends competition list. That fucking Aniston’s gonna be a tough one to break though.
