Tiny Grammy award-winning rapper Lil’ Kim begins her prison sentence today. And she spent her last few days of freedom buzzing around like a very busy gangsta bunny.
Over the last week, the teeny weeny popster has been hurtling around giving interviews and filming a new reality TV show, called Lil’ Kim Goes To The Big House.
Lil’ Kim Goes To The Big House – for which she was filmed 24/7 –
doesn’t have a home yet, but several networks have apparently expressed
interest. The show will follow the last week of freedom for Lil’ Kim (CDs),
who faces a year in prison after being found guilty of perjury for
lying about witnessing a New York shootout.
Until Lil’ Kim Goes To The Big House broadcast, however, we’ll have to piece together the
story of the last few days of freedom for Lil’ Kim. There was the
statement given after she was assigned a new prison – a high-rise
concrete jail instead of a prison camp in the countryside. Lil’ Kim’s
lawyer L. Londell McMillan stated:
“Why should a female hip-hop artist have to spend time in an urban
concrete jungle while other female prisoners are assigned to rural,
suburban-type prison camps?”
Lil’ Kim herself said that the prison switch was "unfortunate," but it’s not all doom and gloom. She’s trying to find the silver lining of being stuck inside a real-life version of Bad Girls, and added:
“Today begins a new saga in my life which I expect to strengthen me
and allow me time for reflection. I plan to write music while in
prison, read and pray regularly and will come out a stronger, more
confident woman.”
More confident than the woman who has songs called "Fuck You",
"Don’t Mess With Me" and, er, "Shake Ya Bum Bum"? Goodness, that is
confident.
