Glee?s Lea Michele won Choice TV Comedy Actress at Sunday nights 2013 Teen Choice Awards and dedicated the award to late boyfriend and co-star Cory Monteith in a teary and heart breaking tribute.
Cory Monteith passed away from a fatal overdose in Vancouver on July 13 with official records citing a lethal mix of heroin and alcohol as the cause of death. Leah?s homage to Glee?s former leading man Finn Hudson, in which she thanked fans for their love and support, was the first official public appearance made by the 26-year-old since his death.
Lea who plays the ambitious Rachel Berry, was supported onstage by Glee’s original cast mates Amber Riley, Kevin McHale and Jenna Ushkowitz in a sweet display of affection.
Lea?s voice wavered as she honored her partner by saying
“I just wanted to be here today to personally thank all of you and tell everyone out there how much all of your love and support has meant to me over these past difficult few weeks. Not that I had any doubt before, but you guys are most certainly the greatest fans in the world. And I wanted to dedicate this award to Cory for all of you who loved and admired Cory as much as I did, I promise that with your love, we’re going to get through this together. He was very special to me and also to the world and we were very lucky to witness his incredible talent, his handsome smile and his beautiful, beautiful heart. So whether you knew him personally or just as Finn Hudson, Cory reached out and he became a part of all of our hearts, and that’s where he’ll stay forever. So thank you guys so much. Thank you.”
One Direction not surprisingly swept up at the awards show along with Pretty Little Liars and the Twilight Saga. Harry Styles was roped into ?twerking? which sent twitter into meltdown with #HarryDroppedThatThunThunThun trending. The curly haired lothario later tweeted simply ?Note to self. Don’t ?twerk?? Now if only Miley would follow suit?
