Meeting your heroes is always disappointing. It’s such a letdown, they’re never like how you imagined them to be. That is, unless you meet Joe Pesci and he actually punches you in the face.
Imagine the thrill of that – one of Hollywood’s all-time tough guys actually punching you straight in the mouth! Juan Carlos Montenegro doesn’t have to imagine; he claims that Joe Pesci thumped him in the mush in a shopping centre car park. But, weirdly, Juan isn’t too pleased – he filed a police report instead.
Joe Pesci (CDs/DVDs) has been keeping a bit quiet over the last few years.
After setting screens alight in films like Raging Bull, Goodfellas,
Casino, My Cousin Vinny, er, Moonwalker and, um, Home Alone, Pesci
hasn’t appeared in a film since 1998’s Lethal Weapon 4. That’s set to
change this year with the release of The Good Shepherd, but it’s good
to see that Joe’s been keeping his toes wet in the meantime.
The Mirror reports that Pesci apparently smacked 24-year-old student
Juan Carlos Montenegro in the mouth on Sunday after Montenegro was a
little over-eager to approach the star:
He asked Pesci, 62, if he
could take his picture, and
the star said "not now". But the student followed the actor and took a
snap anyway. "Furious" Pesci then allegedly hit him. Montenegro told
Pesci he shouldn’t have done that, and the star replied: "You shouldn’t
have been interrupting my business."
Police
are investigating the incident, and Pesci has not been charged. But,
hey, it could have been worse for Montenegro: Joe Pesci could have put
his head in a vice and tightened it until his eye popped out. Or performed a quick rendition of his 1998 hit Take Your Love And Shove It Up Your Big Fat Ass.
Juan was due to give a comment on the incident to hecklerspray, but he cut himself short as he caught a glimpse of his second favourite actor, Russell Crowe, heading into a restaurant. He’d heard that Russell likes cameras.
