God loves a trier, we're told. So he must really bloody love Janet Jackson, who's almost exclusively spent the last 20 years trying to get us to look at her bosoms. And she's at it again – Janet Jackson has gone topless for Vibe Magazine.
Of course, splaying her bazzers all over the cover of a magazine poses slightly more of a risk to Janet Jackson than it does to most other 40-year-old attention-seeking pop singers, since she's still getting in trouble for showing a bit of one of her boobs at the Super Bowl a few years ago. But anything that diverts attention from her rubbish new single, eh?
Janet Jackson has always had to fight for her success. For all of her adult life she's struggled to become the most famous Jackson, but her big brother is always round the corner with a bottle of Jesus Juice and some women's clothing to snatch the mantle away from her again. Even a high-profile spot singing with Justin Timberlake at the Super Bowl ended in tears, as Janet Jackson's floppy tit managed to overshadow every single piece of news for that entire month.
But, as we've said, Janet Jackson is a trier. Never one to let international disgrace and ridicule get the better of her, Janet Jackson is going all out to promote her new 20 Y.O album. She's partly done this by letting her fans design the album sleeve, and she's partly done this by going topless at any given opportunity, unhooking her bra even before the photographer has asked her "How would you feel about tak…"
Janet Jackson's latest bout of booby-baring happens on the front cover of Vibe magazine, accompanied by an interview primarily about when the hell she's going to stop compulsively showing off her canaries to the world, and this is how she answers:
"Of course. When I'm 80. That's when I'll call it quits."
Also in the Vibe interview, Janet Jackson finally addresses the Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction incident, with all the grace and wisdom of someone who once let Justin Timberlake tear off her bra in front of billions of people:
"It's just over and done with. It's old. It's the past. It's history. I'm onto something new. Everybody got their licks in – those who wanted to – and it's done."
Luckily for Janey Jackson, though, any lows she felt after getting her breasts out on the telly were countered by her partner, Jermaine Dupri, who Janet Jackson likes mainly because he isn't old:
"I came to realise that younger men had less of a problem with who I am than older men. With the younger guys, there was less ego. Things were less competitive. They weren't threatened by who made more and who made less… When I look at Jermaine, I see myself. I feel as if I'm looking in the mirror. The connection I feel with him I have never felt with anybody else."
Younger men have less of a problem with who Janet Jackson is? We wonder what is it about the permanently naked millionaire that they see in her.
