Be sure to mark this day off on your calendar, because it happens about as often as Halley’s Comet. It can safely be said that Lindsay Lohan has definitely gone at least 90 days without a drink. ?
Being released from rehab, good reviews for her performance in The Canyons, a documentary deal with Oprah and a guest-hosting spot on Chelsea Lately – have we fallen in to a parallel universe where Lindsay Lohan’s life is actually going well for a change? Someone go check for a rip in the space time continuum.
Lindsay completed her court-ordered 90 days of rehab yesterday and there haven’t been any reports of her celebrating this achievement by chugging vodka and Red Bull from a shoe and passing out in the lobby of the Chateau Marmont. She’s been free a whole 24 hours and not one! The old Lindsay would have been asleep in a dumpster by now.
She even looks healthier. That jacket might need to be returned to the set of whichever Starsky and Hutch remake she stole it from, but let’s give her the benefit of the doubt for now. Maybe the sobriety coach she’s going to live with can go through her closet while they are at it. ?Her latest trainwreck project, The Canyons premiered in New York a few nights ago and has been met with better-than-average criticism. Lindsay tweeted:
“Wow…humbled and feeling so much gratitude #teamlohan”
She linked the tweet to a review of the film on Variety.com, who’s biggest compliment towards Lindsay’s performance is that it’s reminiscent of Marlon Brando. She must have skipped over the fact that they say it’s because the role is pretty much auto-biographical. She plays a party girl in the movie biz that’s desperate not to slip out of the limelight, which can’t have been that hard. As Variety describes it:
“…?a scene Lohan plays with such raw conviction that you can't be sure who's more afraid of slipping back into working-stiff anonymity, her or her character.”
But that’s better than “She’s genius for for drinking games”, which is the best she got for Liz And Dick.?She might have yet more chances to prove that she’s a serious actress, because she’s also apparently close to signing a deal to appear as the female lead in Ben Affleck’s next film, with some people saying it could be her best shot for an Oscar.
She’s been to rehab, not Hogwarts.
