Hilary Swank Won’t Bite Tongue Off Marriage Just Yet

Digg this!

When Hilary Swank announced her split from husband Chad Lowe just over a week ago, everyone thought "Here we go again." But Hilary and Chad are trying something groundbreaking with their split.

Instead of the traditional ‘rumoured split, denial of split, eventual confirmation of split, messy ugly public divorce’ route favoured by most celebrities, Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe are attempting something mostly unheard of in celebrity circles – they’re going to try and save their marriage. Weird, huh?

Hilary Swank (DVDs) is good at a lot of things, like looking a bit like a
boy in her films and winning Oscars all the time. But there are things that Hilary Swank isn’t so
great at, like remembering to thank her husband Chad Lowe
when she wins Oscars and generally staying together with him. But it looks like
Hilary wants to be a bit better at that last one.

Hilary and Chad announced their split
earlier in the month, after eight years of marriage – and most people
assumed that an announcement of a divorce would follow shortly
afterwards. Not so, according to Hilary. Speaking to Access Hollywood
at the Golden Globes – while still wearing her wedding band – Hilary
Swank said:

"It’s not over, we’re not divorced. We’ve been together for over 13
years and there’s a lot of love there… We’re still married."

This weird sudden celebrity devotion to marriage unnerves us a little, if we’re honest. Whatever next? Stories about Jessica Simpson helping old ladies across the road? Endless articles about Eva Longoria checking bonfires for hedgehogs before lighting them? And, God help us – Kimberly Stewart might actually see one her ten thousand engagements through.
