More sketchy than every episode of Rolf’s Cartoon Club put together, this one. But still, you can’t deny its sheer apple munching juiciness.
Walter Parkes, producer of the original War Games (DVD) movie – an Amstrad injected classic from 1983 – is all ready to get underway with a sequel.
Far from ruining it by stuffing The Rock (DVD) and Demi Moore (DVD) in the leads as a ‘hilariously mismatched couple’, Parkes is doing the fan thing and trying his utmost to recruit Matthew Broderick (DVD) and Ally Sheedy (DVD), the now thoroughly middle aged stars on the original movie.
This is welcome news for anyone old enough to remember Ultravox (CD) and bendy-Ghandi Action Force (VHS) figures. In short, what with Broderick never worth less than a quick punt and Sheedy in serious need of a career renaissance, it’s an exceptionally bland bit of casting.
Speculation being the name of the game, Parkes has not actually got anyone to sign on the dotted at this stage.
The plot, for any of us that still believe in the word, will reputedly centre on the ‘information explosion’. So, for that we can read ‘internet’ and ‘bloody annoying Alexa spyware’.
All sounds promising though; if everyone involved watches The Net (DVD) and thus understands fully why nobody else did.
Read virtually nothing more about War Games 2 here. And keep your fingers crossed for no ‘download the excitement’ style taglines.
