Sheffield-based post-punk rockists Arctic Monkeys have stormed into the number one spot on the UK singles chart, with I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor.
The Northern quartet booted munt-pop trio Sugababes off the top spot with their debut(ish) single for Domino. The band had previously released a limited edition single called Fake Tales Of San Francisco, which wasn’t marketed.
The band has built up something of a cult following via the internet, and regularly chat with fans on their website’s forum.
Having seen the Whistle Test-esque video that’s been on heavy rotation on MTV2 over the past week, we’re a little concerned that the the lead singer (Alex Turner) plays his guitar "a little too high up". But overall, this is a fair effort.
Arctic Monkeys have recorded their debut album, which will be released in the coming months.
