Looks as if the James Bond producers are learning – after the idiotic casting and filming procedure of Casino Royale, producers are said to be lining up a Casino Royale sequel for Daniel Craig already.
This is good because – at the speed which James Bond producers work – they might even have all the actors ready for the Casino Royale sequel by the time the thing starts shooting in a few years time. And who knows, maybe Daniel Craig’s teeth will have all healed up properly by then, too.
Now that James Bond (DVDs) producers have shipped the world’s fawning media over to the Bahamas to see the filming of Casino Royale, it seems that the general opinion of James Bond being played by Daniel Craig has gone from "What? But he’s going to be shit!"
to "Yeah, I suppose he might be sort of OK." And the producers of Casino Royale
think that Daniel Craig is such a good James Bond that a Daniel
Craig-starring sequel to Casino Royale is already in the pipeline. Bond
producer Barbara Broccoli has said:
"We’re already thinking about it. We’re in the early stages. It’s an
original story but it’s going to continue part of the story is in this
film."
It’s
probably a good thing that a sequel to Casino Royale has been announced
now – there’s plenty of time for the world’s leading actresses to start
turning down Bond Girl
roles. Terrifyingly, though, Barbara Broccoli hasn’t completely killed
the idea that Daniel Craig could star in a remake of an old Sean
Connery or Roger Moore James Bond film:
"We don’t plan to do that but, to coin a phrase, never say never."
If that happened, we’re sure that there’d be a line of angry James Bond fans waiting to punch out Daniel Craig’s teeth all over again.
But that’s something to worry about another time. Daniel Craig in two James Bond films? He’s gone from being the
new George Lazenby to the new Timothy Dalton in one easy jump.
