The first series of Lost finished in the UK a few days ago, and we can safely say that anything happening to the cast off-screen is infinitely more interesting than their on-screen exploits.
On TV, the cast of Lost spent 24 weeks trying to basically take the lid off a box while being attacked by a bit of smoke – but in real life the cast seem to spend a lot of their time driving around Hawaii all boozed up – at least that’s what happened to Lost star Cynthia Watros, who was yesterday given a 90 day driving ban after she pleaded guilty to drink-driving.
Now that Lost is finished in the UK, we can now start asking the
questions that matter – questions like "Smoke? Huh?" and "How come the
Korean man could speak perfect English in the preview for season two?".
But, anyway, yes. Cynthia Watros. You may remember that last month,
Watros and her Lost co-star Michelle Rodriguez were both arrested for drink-driving on the same stretch of road in Hawaii on two different occasions during the same night.
Cynthia Watros appeared in Oahu’s Kaneohe District Court yesterday
to plead guilty to her charges. Her sentence? Her driving license was
suspended for 90 days, she was fined $370 and ordered to undergo an alcohol
assessment and receive 14 hours of counselling. And, despite this,
the trial was a veritable love-in. As she entered her plea, Cynthia
Watros said "I’m sorry," which spurred on District Judge James
Dannenberg to get all fluffy in response:
"This is no fun, but you know how much worse it could have been. Get on with your life, and I wish you luck."
Even
though Cynthia Watros got off her drink-driving charge lightly, things
don’t look so rosy for her co-star and fellow arrestee Michelle
Rodriguez – a notoriously mental driver
– who was apparently "argumentative and rude," on her arrest and
pleaded not guilty to her charges. She’s already on probation for
another driving offence, which should make interesting for her court
hearing later in the month.
What with all the excitement of Lost star Josh Holloway being robbed at gunpoint, Lost star Naveen Andrews fathering an illicit love-child and apparent bad driving from Lost stars Josh, Naveen, Michelle, Cynthia, Dominic Monaghan and Ian Somerhalder, we wonder how Lost actually gets made.
Now, though, Cynthia Watros has to get used to travelling around Hawaii
without her car. Maybe she can ride about on that giant polar bear thing. Or
is that dead? Oh, we’re so confused.
