Those ‘Janet Jackson secret mother secret daughter secret shhhh secret secret’ rumours have cropped up again, with Young DeBarge blabbing about Jackson’s secret 18-year-old daughter Renee all over the radio earlier in the week.
But Janet Jackson isn’t having any of it. She’s spoken up to deny any allegations that she popped a secret baby out 18 years ago. Spoilsport.
Janet Jackson (CDs) has felt more media attention than she’s ever
experienced this week – or at least since she whacked her jubbly out at
the Super Bowl. There has been intense speculation over the claims that
Janet spawned a daughter during her marriage to James DeBarge, the
Luther Vandross-supporting 1980s microstar.
According to James’s brother Young, Janet’s daughter is now 18
years-old, named Renee and living with Janet’s oldest sister Rebbie
Jackson. To some, Young DeBarge was just confirming what is one of the best-known urban myths in pop. There has long been a rumour that Janet got
when she first emerged as a star, but evil record company
executives made her hide the baby away so she wouldn’t alienate her
young fanbase.
But Janet doesn’t want to join in all this secret mother fun. In a statement released to Access Hollywood, she said:
"I do not have a child, and any allegations saying so are false."
That’s that cleared up, then.
