X Factor Betting Odds - Which Lousy Manager Will Win?
Then buzz it up
November 24th, 2005 at 10:30 by Stuart Heritage
We’ve stumbled across a theory on why the managers on X Factor have suddenly decided to hate each other. It’s the same theory that you clever people probably have - time filling.
At the start of the X Factor series 12 acts had to all sing and be assessed in one hour, so everything is rushed. Now there are only six acts, which - unless you make everyone sing full-length versions of Marquee Moon - leaves a lot of dead time. So to fill the gaps, you make the managers fight each other a bit. That a) fills up time, b) gets headlines and c) makes X Factor seem like more than the shonky talent show that it really is.
Which means that we can’t take all this Louis Walsh leaves X Factor blather that seriously. But more of that later. Here’s this weeks X Factor winning manager betting odds, with help from Betfair.com…
Simon Cowell - Even though he no longer has the least amount of acts
in play this series, Simon Cowell is still out-and-out outsider to win
X Factor. Why? Even though he has two acts, one of them is The Conway
Sisters - a group that he’s done his best to get rid off for the last
few weeks. They’ll be gone soon, and that leaves Journey South, a group
that are now being touted as possible X Factor winners. However,
Betfair betters are smart people, and they realise that Journey South
are nothing more than yelling soft-rock buskers. And that’s why you’re still saying
that Simon doesn’t stand a chance. Current odds - 4.3
Louis Walsh - So Louis has apparently quit X Factor after Sharon
threw water in his face and Simon called him an idiot. What a lot of
shit. Although - if we were in the same position - we’d have quit X
Factor the second that the screeching bulimic moron picked up the first
glass of water. But we still can’t it seriously. Louis is a smart guy -
he’s been in charge of number one records on both sides of the Atlantic, and he
knows the benefit of a well-timed publicity stunt. Simon Cowell has
already done the obligatory "no please come back" shtick, so we’d
expect Louis to return for Saturday, unless they’re really going to
string this out. Anyway, Louis has Shayne, Shayne’s probably going to
win. So that means that Louis is probably going to win. Current odds -
2.84
Sharon Osbourne - Sharon is the new favourite to win X Factor, and
we’re guessing that this is purely based on the number of acts she has
retained. She has three, compared to Simon’s two and Louis’s one. But
do any of Sharon’s acts have it in them to beat Shayne? We’re not sure
that any of them do. Current odds - 2.34
Tomorrow we’ll look at the betting odds for the next X Factor elimination. But if you want to
