There are a few certainties for tomorrow night’s X Factor – there will be an elimination and Louis Walsh will get booed every time he opens his mouth – but there are a few things that are less certain.
The main thing that people will have to wait to see on Saturday’s X Factor – apart from what kind of horrific frock Kate Thornton will wear – is who will get the boot from the show. If you saw last week’s show, you might just have an inkling about who’s the favourite to go.
So let’s take a look at the betting odds for the sixth X Factor elimination, with help from Betfair.com…
Shayne Ward – It’s been said that in two years time, Shayne Ward
could be the biggest star in the country. And all he has to do is keep
ripping off Justin Timberlake just as mercilessly as he did last week.
Now he’s already done the JT thing, though, where can he go on
Saturday? Not that it matters, of course. Unless people are petty
enough to not vote for Shayne to spite Louis, he’ll be safe. We are
exactly that petty, but that’s not to say that the rest of the viewers
are. Current odds – 110
Andy Abraham – Andy got easily the biggest cheers of the night on
Saturday. He’s an impoverished binman, his Mum died and he wants to
make love to you – what a winning combination. Andy won’t get voted off
this weekend – although we said that about Maria last week. To really
secure his place, he needs to pick a song as shamelessly populist as
last week. The people have spoken – and they want sustained notes, four
million key changes and confetti falling from the ceiling. Current odds
– 100
Journey South – Simon Cowell keeps banging on about wanting the
nation to see Journey South as real contenders to win X Factor. But
it’s not really sinking in – they had to play their trump card last
week to stay in people’s minds. Now that they’ve gone and covered Bon
Jovi, they don’t have a lot in their arsenal for the rest of the
series. They won’t go tomorrow, though. Current odds – 55
Brenda Edwards – Brenda has managed to be the most popular female
contestant on X Factor, which is great, but we wonder how long her luck
is going to last. It’s becoming apparent that Brenda only really
succeeds when she’s screaming stuff at the very top her voice. She went
for a softer song last week, and was instantly forgettable. To stay
safe this week, she has to bellow so hard that her eyes literally
burst. And we do mean literally. Current odds – 27
Chico Slimari – What a strange bunch of people you are. All through
the series Chico has provided a range of bemusingly other-worldly pop
performances – the kind of things that performing arts students do as
installations to show how clever they are. And he was never anything
other than the favourite to be eliminated. Then, last week Chico
started believing his own hype, disappeared up his bumbum and sang The
Worst Ballad Ever Performed. And you people give him his best-ever
odds. Weirdos. Current odds – 6.4
Nicholas Dorsett – Ever since Nicholas was almost voted out two
weeks ago, his confidence has taken a big knock. Whatever he sang last
week was so completely devoid of personality that we can’t even
remember anything about it. In fact, if Nicholas set himself on fire
and ran around screaming in tongues tomorrow night, we still probably
wouldn’t remember it. A real contender for elimination. Current odds –
4.2
The Conway Sisters – The Conway Sisters are not in a good place this
week. They went through last week at the expense of the much more
talented Maria, and the plebs are angry. Even if, by some strange
alignment of the planets, The Conway Sisters manage to stay in tune for
an entire song, they’ll still be voted off tomorrow. The public hates The Conway
Sisters, so they won’t vote for them. And then all the judges will be
so embarrassed by last weeks events that they’ll side with anyone else
but them. This has to be their last week in the competition, surely.
Current odds – 1.79
