Did you see X Factor on Saturday? Wasn’t it hilarious? Did those people actually think they stood a chance of getting through to the next round? And that bit where they played some vaguely inspirational music when they did actually get through?

OK, OK. We didn’t see X Factor on Saturday. But we’d bet our sweet arse that all that stuff we just mentioned happened, since it’s happened on every single X Factor episode since the series was invented. And we didn’t even mention the comedy sound effect of a stylus being knocked off a record, which we’re guessing got played over 150 times of Saturday’s X Factor.
