X Factor betting odds Simon Cowell Worst yetThat's that, then - the end of the first phase of X Factor 2006. The down side to this is that we won't be able to laugh at all the foreigners and people with social and mental disorders like we've done for the last few weeks, but there's also an up side to all this.

Now, you see, we're one tiny step closer to know who's going to win X Factor this year. Who could it be? The girl who was blown up 30 years ago? The girl in the wheelchair? The woman whose Mum just died of cancer? Or will it be one of the X Factor hopefuls that weren't cynically pushed through to the next round to make the judges look a little bit less heartless, like the extraordinarily pretty receptionist from Saturday who the X Factor judges clearly want to win because they spent about 45 minutes very clearly explaining why she was so brilliant to each other? Who knows - but we still can't tell if X Factor this year will be ace or crap. And nor can anyone else.

Here are the X Factor betting odds for Simon Cowell to label the 2006 X Factor series "The Worst Yet"

Simon Cowell To Label The 2006 X Factor series "The Worst Yet" - Well, this a specific little bugger, isn't it? It goes without saying that Simon Cowell will spend at least one week of the live finals moping about because nobody's singing as well as he wanted, or because nobody has commented on just how superhumanly white his teeth are for five minutes - but would Simon Cowell really label an entire series of X Factor as "the worst yet"? Surely something like that would be suicide; nobody would go to the lucrative X Factor tour after Simon Cowell said this, nobody would buy the winner's single (much less those of any of the runners-up) and - crucially - nobody would recommission X Factor for a fourth series. Besides, how could this series of X Factor possibly be the worst one yet? Did he actually watch last year's X Factor? Between Jerky Phil McGee, Chico and The Conway Sisters, last year was so thunderously awful that Mr Diarrhea And His Musical Projectile Bum Gravy would need to be a finalist this year to equal the awfulness, let alone surpass it. Current X Factor betting odds - 8/1

Tomorrow - Simon Cowell to unleash a foul torrent of swearing all over X Factor?
