Lost

Everyone loves Lost. We love the crazy bald knife guy. We love the junkie rockstar, we love that fat bloke, we don’t love the incesty brother and sister very much, but we love the Korean couple enough to make up for it.

One person who doesn’t love Lost is Anthony Spinner. He doesn’t love Lost because it apparently closely resembles something he wrote 28 years ago. In fact, he loves Lost so little that he’s suing ABC and Touchstone, who are responsible for the show.

If you haven’t seen Lost yet, firstly - durr; and secondly - it’s
about a group of handily beautiful stereotypes whose aeroplane
crashes on a remote island. As the survivors learn about themselves and
each other, they have to encounter all kinds of nutty monsters that
inhabit the island.

Anthony Spinner claims that in 1977 he was commissioned by Sid And
Marty Krofft Prods
to write, produce and develop a script for ABC. A
script called Lost. About a group of aeroplane survivors fending off
nutty monsters in a jungle.

According to Spinner, he apparently signed a contract which promised
him credits as both creator and writer of the show, as well as
royalties and a percentage of the profits. Now he’s suing the producers of the current hit, although the damages he is seeking are
undisclosed.

Whoever invented Lost, it’s still a fun ride. Tonight’s episodes is
one of the best - we get to see why Locke is so self-satisfied all the
time. It’s like one of the weirdest Jim’ll Fix It letters of all time. And it’s, you know, emotional.

Lost is broadcast tonight at 10pm on Channel 4.
