Will Smith Gets Greenbacks Fever
When Will Smith stars in a film, he gives it his all – whether he's playing a charming lovable cowboy, a charming lovable FBI agent or a charming lovable boxer. And now Will Smith has signed up for Greenbacks.
Greenbacks is a film that has something to do with counterfeit money and is not – heartbreakingly – a spin-off movie about Danger Mouse's arch-nemesis Baron Silas Greenback, starring Will Smith as a giant evil toad. But fear not, that film will be made, so help us God.
Will Smith is going to be a busy bunny in the next few months. Although we haven't heard too much from Will Smith since the ferocious combo of OK-for-a-girl's-film movie Hitch and terrible single Switch last year, it doesn't mean that Will Smith has been just chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool and shooting some b-ball outside of the school.
In fact, Will Smith has been scurrying away attaching his name to every single new movie around. There's the hilarious Nicolas Cage movie Time Share, where Will Smith stars as a charming Dad trying to share a double-booked holiday home with another family. There's Tonight, He Comes, where Will Smith plays a crap – yet charming and lovable – superhero. There's It Takes A Thief, where Will Smith plays a charming thief. And there's Pursuit Of Happyness, which sounds like a load of balls.
And now there's going to be Greenbacks. According to FilmStew, Greenbacks:
Centres on an American ex-patriot living in Morocco who stumbles across and international plot to bring down the world's economy by producing the perfect counterfeit greenbacks.
That's roughly all we know about Greenbacks so far, other than the fact that it was written by the people that gave us The Rock (the crap Sean Connery film, not the crap wrestler) and that Will Smith is also going to produce the movie.
Rumours that Will Smith didn't sign for Greenbacks until his character was made 30% more charming and 17% more lovable are – of course – completely false. It's well known that the real dealbreaker was Will Smith getting the rights to making a Will2K style single called Greenbacks Are Gonna Get Ya or some other shit like that.
