Why Did I Get Married Emotionally Validates Weekend Box Office

Weekend Box office Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get MarriedTyler Perry has taken plenty of risks to get where he is today, but his new movie Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married took the biggest risk of all – not having a lead character who's a seven-foot-tall black bloke dressed up as a fat old lady.

Not that it matters, though – Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married is the new top movie at the weekend box office. Clearly ditching the female fat-suit for Why Did I Get Married paid dividends, with the movie making a decent enough $21.5 million at the weekend box office, but Tyler Perry has clearly been dabbling in risk management – instead of a fat old mannish lady, Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married's female lead is Janet Jackson. And she's a woman who, while lacking the emotional range that a Tyler Perry part usually calls for, does constantly give off the impression that her top will fly open and she'll run around slapping her boobs all around the place. Again.

Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married is the top movie at this weekend's US weekend box office, but few people outside of America know who Tyler Perry actually is. So, if you need a quick catch-up lesson, Tyler Perry is the man whose Tyler Perry's Madea's Family Reunion almost single-handedly kick-started the whole 'black actor in a female fat-suit' trend that's currently so popular. That's right – you have Tyler Perry to thank for both Big Momma's House 2 and Norbit. We're sure you'll all like to thank Tyler Perry for those two gems in your own special way. Here's the weekend box office to five…

1 – Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married (The answer to the question 'why did I get married', for those of you who care, is 'because it's good source material for my God-fearing, wildly egotistical, Oprah-worshipping self-help comic melodramas) $21,500,000

2 - The Game Plan (If The Rock really is following Hulk Hogan's career outline – wrestle for a bit, star in a family comedy about inappropriate child-rearing, host a revised version of a 1990s TV show – then can we put in an early request for The Rock to host Funhouse? Please?) $11,506,000

3 - Michael Clayton (Honestly, Michael Clayton is one of the best films we've seen all year. And certainly the best film with a major plot point revolving around George Clooney's sudden aesthetic appreciation of horses) $11,010,000

4 - We Own The Night (A Joaquin Phoenix movie that hasn't done as well as his Johnny Cash movie. If only Phoenix had thought to continue his promotional technique of confusingly believing that large frogs were living in his hair, maybe things would have gone just that little bit better) $11,000,000

5 - The Heartbreak Kid (Featuring the second-unfunniest Eva Longoria cameo since that crappy sex tape thing from a couple of weeks ago) $7,425,000

He could do without having his name in every single, damn movie he makes. As if we could forget who else would make such annoying tripe.

What the hell is your problem?? “Janet…does constantly give off the impression that her top will fly open and she’ll run around slapping her boobs all around the place. Again.” You are seriously disturbed if you are still obsessed with the superbowl incident (not to mention Janet DID NOT parade around the stage slapping her boobs everywhere). Keep it real and give this movie (and Janet) the props they deserve…
