Precious is heavy…
And we’re not talking about the main character, Clareece ‘Precious’ Jones. Actress Gabourey Sidibe teams up with comedian Mo’Nique, Mariah Carey and Paula Patton to tell an urban tale of abuse, self hatred and feeling worthless.
Main character Precious, is 16, illiterate and pregnant for the second time by her father. Her mother is an abusive tyrant, she’s persecuted at school and lives a life of general misery. This gritty drama will hit you with a sobering dose of life’s realities, set to the grim backdrop of Harlem, NY.
All that Precious wants is to be loved, acknowledged and good at something, but she’s constantly held back by the sour negativity of her life. She transfers to a special school program, and meets Miss Rain (Paula Patton) and welfare officer Mrs Weiss (Mariah Carey) after being forced to sign on by her mother. Slowly, they work their way into Precious’ life and make a bid to change it for the better.
Based on the novel Push by Sapphire, this is not an easy movie, but one evoking thought and reflection.

The only acting parts Mo’Nique is any good at is playing the typical obese loud mouth getto slob. “Charm School” please. Wheezing around enunciating like a rapper with a 6th grade education wanting to convince everyone “including themselves” that they really are smart without all that “learnin in books and school and stuff” isn’t charming. Not a lady. She would screw anyone who offered and it wouldn’t be so much that she’s what anyone would look like if they stretch a face around a large bucket. It’s that raspy voice and getto personality that would make a dilto shrivel up. Someone needs to tell her ranting in a stereotypical black women way will not make her any less black.
ur an asswhole nd im sure monique is glad to have anotha hater..lol..go get a life! anyway this movie seems really good and it looks like monique did an excellent job on her part…love how she keeps it real as a black woman and let the haters hate hahaha…
All the typing you did was for what. Hater! Everyday there is someone living the exact life on this trailer. Did you feel better about yourself the day you wrote that nonsense. Mo’nique is a wonderful person. I hope that you are mentoring since you know what a qualifications a mentor should have. She was being a mentor to those young ladies. I thought life lessons and coming through shining with a better you was enough to help someone. I know that this movie will be great. I can’t wait to see it- We’ll see you there Hater!
