We're just going to come right out and say it – we want The Noisettes to be big in 2007. Not just indie big, either – we want The Noisettes to be world-destroying big. And on the basis of Sister Rosetta (Capture The Spirit), The Noisettes couldn't deserve it more.

Even though The Noisettes hold the record as the only band to have ever turned hecklerspray away we still love them, and it's all thanks to their ferociously slinky garage-pop sass that – rightly – we can't get enough of. New single (out Monday) Sister Rosetta (Capture The Spirit) shows The Noisettes' many strengths off in spades, wildly alternating between a groovy, tightly catchy verse and a chorus that will push the air out of your lungs. Frontwoman Shingai naturally hogs most of the attention here with her boutique hair and Eartha Kitt snarl, but Jamie and Dan play their parts too on drums and guitar. Sister Rosetta (Capture The Spirit) is a rock n' roll howl that's near-perfect, and if The Noisettes' album is damn near anywhere as good as this is it'll be one of the best of the year without question.
