Movies about Santa Claus are always brilliant, aren’t they? There was Bad Santa, Miracle On 34th Street, those two films with Tim Allen in them… OK, so Santa Claus movies can be a bit hit and miss.

But hope just might be on the way in the form of Fred Claus, a new Santa movie starring hilarious acting man and all round Aniston-boinker Vince Vaughn. Not only that, but Vaughn looks set to break the $20 million salary mark for his role – enough to buy a gigantic pity party for his lady.

Vince Vaughn (DVDs), the drunk but not illegally drunk star of Old School, Wedding Crashers and Psycho has taken time out from babbling incomprehensibly about sex with Jennifer Aniston
to sign up for Fred Claus – a story about the black sheep brother of
Santa Claus returning to the North Pole to make amends for being a
giant schmo all his life.

Fred Claus is to be directed by David Dobkin – most famous for
directing Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson in last summer’s enormohit
Wedding Crashers. Dobkin has just pulled out of directing gay Adam
Sandler
film
I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry, though whether he
made this move to take over Fred Claus remains to be announced. Fred
Claus
was written by Dan Fogelman, who previously created Like Family,
a series about how black people and white people can live together in
perfect harmony.

But wait! Fred Claus stars Vince Vaughn from Wedding Crashers and is
directed by David Dobkin from Wedding Crashers. We can’t help but think
that Fred Claus will look something like this.
