And, to make matters worse, the naked Vanessa Hudgens photos are alleged to have been taken by Zac Efron – another High School Musical star. Seriously, we haven't had this much fun since that 16-year-old Nativity star got knocked up.
And now, alarmed that the well-kept secret that she owns a set of nipples as well as a vagina has been made public, Vanessa Hudgens has apologised wholeheartedly to her young fans in the hope that she'll be allowed to stay on the High School Musical team instead of progressing directly to the 'erotic thriller' stage of her career. The New York Daily News reports:
"High School Musical" sweetheart Vanessa Hudgens yesterday said she was sorry – and embarrassed – about a nude photo of her on the Internet. "I want to apologize to my fans, whose support and trust means the world to me," Hudgens, 18, said. "I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos. I am thankful for the support of my family and friends."
And the apology seems to have done the trick. Along with rumours that Disney has decided to back Vanessa Hudgens throughout the naked picture scandal, there's also this quote to cheer Hudgens up, from her publicist – who appears to be a cartoon version of a stereotypical 14-year-old Paris Hilton:
"Oh, my, that story is so 100% not true. Vanessa's not an 'employee' of Disney; there's nothing to be fired from."
So it looks like Vanessa Hudgens has got away with the furore surrounding her naked photos with her career intact. True, High School Musical 3 is currently undergoing a swift rewrite to set it in an all-female prison where the guards control riots by spraying the inmates' braless T-shirts with gallons of semi-solid jelly, but that's just thought to be nothing more than a complete coincidence.
