US Weekend Box Office Chart – Transporter 2 Number One

Digg this!

TransporterThe US weekend movie chart is a little late this week because yesterday was Labour Day (or Labor Day if you’re American). Labour Day is the traditional day for Americans to sit at home and wonder if Kanye West really did just say that

But as far as movies go, there’s a surprise number one: Transporter 2, a sequel to an exceptionally – almost intentionally – bad movie. Even stranger, it’s the biggest Labour Day weekend movie ever…

Transporter 2 seems to follow the exact same plot as the original. Baldy Jason Statham (DVDs) drives around, kicks some blokes, drives around, kicks some blokes, repeat to fade. And all this from the man who made Leon and, to a slightly lesser extent, Unleashed.

Here’s this week’s US weekend box office chart.

1 - Transporter 2 (Him off the Kit-Kat adverts kicks a man who nicks his kid) $20,250,000

2 - The 40-Year-Old-Virgin (Is Steve Carrell the new Will Ferrell? If he is, he’d better prepare himself to star in some really shit films) $16,550,000

3 - The Constant Gardener (Imagine gardening constantly. You’d knacker your back) $10,804,000

4 - Red Eye (This film is offensive to albinos) $9,300,000

5 - The Brothers Grimm (Monica Bellucci and Gareth from The Office are in it – go see) $7,931,000

6 - Four Brothers – (Marky Mark stars in a cut-price remake of Seven Brides For Seven Brothers) $6,400,000

7 - Wedding Crashers (The 66th highest-grossing film of all time, fact fans) $5,775,000

8March Of The Penguins (Penguins are the new exploding aliens, we’re told) $5,415,000

9The Skeleton Key (A spooky key that can open any lock? Oooh, scary) $4,054,000

10The Cave (A film about Nick Cave going into a cave for a rave with Dave) $3,700,000
