OlympicsThe celluloid race to win the hosting rights for the Olympic Games 2012 is hotting up, with two UK unknowns set to direct the film that could swing the vote.

London’s bidmeisters have cherry-picked production duo Caroline Rowland and Darryl Goodrich to create the film, which will be screened before International Olympic Committee members just before they start casting their votes on 6 July.

And who are these wannabes up against? Well, NY has recruited some chancer called Steven Spielberg (who hell he?). Meanwwhile Paris has commissioned the ‘quite French’ Luc Besson who will probably going to use some low-budget Super 8 equipment. Arty, you know… probably heavily subsidised too.

Not to put a damper on things for the lucky twosome, we think Chris Cunningham might have done a better job of representing the diversity found in modern London. Or at least freaked out the commitee so much that we’d have a) won the bid or b) gone out in a lysergic blaze of glory.

Actually no, we jest. Rowland and Goodrich are esteemed producers for Soho’s New Moon Productions, which created the award-winning Make Britain Proud film, another stab at convincing the IOC to award the 2012 Games to London. Madrid and Moscow are also vying for the Games, in addition to New York and Paris.

The BBC reported that the film is being shrouded in secrecy, so we have no news on the contents contained within. But we can speculate, and more importantly, so can you.

So what do you think the film should be about? How would London win the Games? What tricks should Spielberg pull out? A dinosaur? Will Besson get lots of topless chicks to fire automatics at Americans? Leave your comments below…
