U2 Get Angry At Politicians

Angry_bono_u2You might want to sit down for this one – Bono has just discovered that there is a difference between politics and music.

The tiny hairplugged Irish singer is angry that American politicians such as Hillary Clinton and Rick Santorum are making money by using U2 concerts as fundraisers.

Bono and U2 (CDs) were apparently shocked to find out that Hillary Clinton
was offering spaces in her suite at a forthcoming Washington concert, in
return for a $2,500 contribution to the Democratic Party. Republican Senator Rick
Santorum is holding a similar event, but at a knock-down price of
$1,000.

And U2 are unhappy at being used as political pawns like this. A band spokesman said "U2 concerts are categorically not fundraisers for any politician. They are rock concerts for U2 fans."

Why they’re getting so narky about it is beyond us. Arnold
Schwarzenegger
has done the same thing before at a Rolling Stones concert, and
he’s the man who wants to explode the moon to stop women from annoying him
with their stupid menstrual cycles, so it’s fine by us.

Plus,
we’re a little confused as to how a politician making money from U2 is
any different to U2 using a handful of bland, attention-grabbing political messages
to bump up their album sales.

But we won’t go into that.
