Is it just us or have we seen an MTV show that's a carbon copy of two other MTV shows? You know, the ones where groups of people come together and do stupid stunts and inflict pain on each other?
MTV was the first mainstream broadcaster to base a TV show around grown men acting like idiots and causing havoc. People were probably doing it long before Jackass came along, but nonetheless it was a cult show and inspired thousands of youngsters to set themselves on fire and dress up as monkeys. Once the format became stale, how could they resell it to us? Easy, create a UK version where we got to see lots of naked men stapling their cocks to bits of wood and eating their own vomit. Sadly, Dirty Sanchez is running out of steam, so what did the geniuses at MTV UK do? Launch the exact same show, but with an all star female cast – Rad Girls. Who says TV is dumbing down?
Exactly as we just described, Rad Girls is just the bastard lovechild of Jackass and Dirty Sanchez. While the show literally shows us that women can make themselves look like total twats too – probably because MTV have given in to political correctness or something – the show does have blatant problems.
Jackass and Dirty Sanchez both worked very well because it had a very personal feel to it. Jackass especially because it was filmed on a camera with quality that matched your own rubbishy attempts at fimmaking. It really did drill the message home that anyone could do it. Obviously the movie was on a higher budget like Dirty Sanchez so it needed to look semi-decent to try and persuade the critics it wasn’t a total waste of their time.
Rad Girls, though, just feels like the product of months and months of meetings and preparations. Especially in the 'Will You Let Me Fart In Your Face?' sketch. Instead of walking down the street with the camera to randomly stop someone, everyone featured already seemed to be prepped about what was going to happen. It really didn’t make us laugh or make us think what they were doing was yucky.
To us, it just feels that Fuse in America – who picked up the show after it was rejected by others – has scoured the suburbs of America looking for three women to star in a TV show, paving the way for instant fame and endless comparisons to Jackass. We don’t believe that they have been out doing wacky stunts for years. Cue some decent-looking women who you’d never dream of acting in such an unladylike way, 'shock' antics, fart jokes and swearing and it equals the makings of an OK TV show.
It’s probably the reason why Rad Girls won’t be coming back for a second series anytime soon, as people realised it was pointless shit and the days of watching people do silly stuff is over. Just get a mate drunk, film them being a bellend and shove the results on YouTube, Plenty of people do it and it's one of the reasons that shows like this don’t capture the imagination of viewers any more.
If the public can do it, they will and will probably do it better then what’s being offered to them. But on a positive for Rad Girls, it does offer some female nudity. We’re not being sexist, but after watching the cockfest that is Dirty Sanchez, it’s good to see some ladies using their genitals for more then what God intended them to with. It's equality, really.

Fart jokes? Meh. So I’m not to expect chearleeders being shot in the minge with a paintball gun and so on then? Shame.
Really, it’s heartening to see this kind of equality but I feel that it fails in one important aspect: Johnny Knoxville and Steve-O generate much more convincing girlish screams than the stars of “Rad Girls”.
u guys are fucking lame. rad girls rules! jackass is good too but it makes girls feel left out. i think they should make a second season.
