Anyone remember the long-horned red-skinned bad guy Tom Cruise had to fight in the very old fairy-infused movie Legend? If not, we’ll fill you in: it was basically the devil, and he wanted to kill all the unicorns, even the good ones.
He was no gentleman, that devil. And it seems that before he was defeated by sunlight reflected off of several shields (remember that should you ever find yourself at the wrong end of a fiery pitchfork), he got his long black claws into Tom Cruise.
Or so claims one American pastor anyway. And when was the last time an American pastor lied to us? Now that we see only truth can usually flow through those holy lips… one of them is saying that Tom Cruise serves Beelzebub!
There was a mighty band some years ago, one we’d probably say sucked
had we ever bothered to listen to any of their music. True, we have no
authority to comment on the band known as W.A.S.P., but we can tell you
what the letters reportedly stand for: We Are Satan’s People. That
being the case, according to Protestant pastor J. Grant Swank Jr, Tom
Cruise (DVDs) could have easily filled in as bass player.
Swank is none too fond of the Church of Scientology, what with
Battlefield Earth and all. He’s so unfond of it that he claims both
Scientology and its advocates are doing the devil’s work. He had
this to say about Mix Master Cruise:
“Cruise, like many other famous
individuals, particularly actors, furthers the cult of Scientology as
Satan uses this means by which to direct eternal souls away from Christ
to Hubbard.”
He also had this to say about Scientology:
“Satan takes all praise
and glory from Redeemer Christ for all honour and esteem granted
[Scientology founder L. Ron] Hubbard and his wild spheres of inner
ascendancy.”
Now, we here have studied that last quote long and hard, and the best
we can come up with as far as meaning is that Hubbard had some sort of
internal elevator and jungle-ridden spheres. Or that Swank is a
headline-hungry retard.
Not that hecklerspray has not gone soft, oh no, we’re not defending
Hubbard by any means. We do think his book Dianetics looks pretty
cool, entirely down to the cover art (you can’t argue with an exploding
volcano). In fact, the only things we really know about Hubbard are as
follows: John Travolta, couch jumping, space ships and this quote from Time, dated May 6, 1991:
"By late
1985, with high-level defectors accusing Hubbard of having stolen as
much as $200 million from the church, the IRS was seeking an indictment
of Hubbard for tax fraud. Scientology members worked day and night
shredding documents the IRS sought, according to defector Aznaran, who
took part in the scheme. Hubbard, who had been in hiding for five
years, died before the criminal case could be prosecuted."
Yeah, that’s all we know about him. But before anyone jumps on J.
Grant Swank Jr’s Tom Cruise hate train, you should read more swanky
Swank crazy quotes on a variety of topics, for instance:
On Muslims:
"They are members of a slaughtering cult, not a religion recognised by other world religions as peace-oriented."
On Ashlee and Jessica Simpson:
"Both Jessica and Ashlee are an embarrassment to the Christian testimony."
On stem cell research:
"Embryonic stem cell research leads to slaughtering humans."
On Catholicism:
"The studies also have shown that 81 percent of sex scandals
involving Catholic priests and males within the parish relate to
homosexual priests."
(Yeah, read that one again)
On hecklerspray–
I like to print it out and read it from the pulpit.
We take back anything bad we said. That guy’s a genius with
exquisite taste, do tell your friends about him Also, if anyone can
help us locate the quotation marks we swear belong around that last
"quote"… oh, there they are. Nevermind then.

Granted Swank is media hungry and uses the cloak of religion to promote his venom.
However, your “journalistic scholarship” is very slim if, as you wrote, the only thing you know about Hubbard is from a 1991 article in TIME, a magzine that has long held the notoriety of serving powerful, special interests groups.
Read the homepage of http://www.drexun.org and find out what is really behind the a $1.6 TRILLION a year conglomerate and Scientology, Dianetics and L. Ron Hubbard.
David M. Barrington, [email protected]
Jon says
Hey guy,
your own journalistic scholarship mispelled “magazine”
David Barrington says
Thanks, Jon
Tell you what, I’ll trade you one typo for the fact that more than 1,000,000 US patients died under psych “treatment” (all paid by our taxes and insurance premiums) and the fact that since the 1990’s there is no accurate reporting of psych caused deaths. (See, http://www.drexun.org)
I’ll also trade you one typo for the fact that CCHR (www.cchr.org) founded under the request by L. Ron Hubbard, finally achieved enough public pressure applied to have the FDA mandate “black box warnings” on psych drug packaging. This will save lives.
I think those are pretty good exchanges.
And, by the way, for those who have low hanging conjones (figuratively speaking) check out the site: http://www.FreedomMag.org — the article on manufacturing terrorists.

It’s your typo in the first place, no need to trade.
PS. Nice double signature.
Laurel says
L. Ron Hubbard was also a drug addict and a bigamist and he lied about his war record and he once said leukemia was psychosomatic.

And before you start talking about how dangerous “psych” treatment is, go read about Lisa Mcpherson and the RPF.
Michael Costello says
Hey Jon, why don’t you find something worth criticizing while you nitpick your way to perfection.
Laurel, why don’t you get your facts straight before you slam something you obviously know nothing about. Just because you read it in the media doesn’t make it true. SniperDoc
Voranos says
Laurel, you really do need to get your facts straight.
Scientology is a bonafide non-profit religion proven in law courts all over the world.
Period.
Dan says
Please.
Non-profit?
That is hilarious.
sam says
Non-profit? Have you ever questioned the source of YOUR information (i.e. the Church of Scientology)? Regardless of the efficacy of dianetics, isn’t it possible that those in charge of the church are taking advantage of you? You belong to an organization that places itself above reproach. Well, I hate to tell you, nothing in this world is infalible, including Scientology and L. Ron Hubbard. And you are the victims of an organization that is very, very much about profit. Get out while you can.

Voranos says
Dan, I’ll just put it down to the fact that you haven’t had the available time to fully educate yourself on the legal status of Scientology so let me help you out.
The most significant legal recognition of the Scientology religion came in October 1993, when the U.S. Internal Revenue Service granted full non-profit status and tax exemption to all churches of Scientology and related social betterment organisations. The IRS examination was not limited to the United States, but specifically included reviews of the financial affairs and activities of Church organisations from Australia to Europe.
Other countries with Tax exemption due to be non-profit include: Austria, Germany, Holland, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Taiwan.
I should also mention that in recent years, authorities in the United Kingdom have issued similar decrees. The Ministry of Defence, specifically the Royal Navy, recognised the Scientology religion as one of the faiths that sailors must be allowed to practice and provisions to do so made accordingly. In May 2001, Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise granted churches of Scientology exemption from value added tax on the basis that they are religious organisations.
Hope that clears things up.
Voranos says
The above information goes to you Sam.
Also, it would be interesting to know how many Churches of Scientology you have visited, how many books by L. Ron Hubbard you have read, how many Scientology courses you have taken to provide yourself with a fully unbiased opinion on the Church and it’s practices rather than just visiting a couple of “seriouly biased” and “hate” websites.
And of course you’ve done a thorough background check on the people that have published those websites you mentioned and found they have squeaky clean track records? I seriously doubt it.
There are court records, treatises, testimonies until the cows come home from people outside the Church who support it fully and advocate it’s practices.
So don’t preach to me about homework – if anyone needs to do some it’s you.
Daniel says
Pastor J. Grant Swank Jr is Satan himself???
Interesting!
The words of Pastor Swank are bizarre for a priest to make, in a world full of intolerance. Shouldn’t the pastor be one who endorses religious tolerance?
Our modern world shows the Imam of the Islamics praying for the death of Israelites, because it was “the will of Allah,” and terrorists seeking the destruction of our cities, politicians asserting their “right to create nuclear weapons.”
Yet the Pastor is seeking to strike at another religious movement, one that is only attempting to make peace in the world.
Seems to me that the Pastor is seeking a similar path as the terrorists.
May we remind the pastor of the many transgressions that have been brought against catholic priests this last decade? I highly doubt these were inspired by angelic motivations.
I doubt highly that the Pastor is speaking on behalf of Christ, or even in accordance to his teachings. I cast doubt on his knowledge that is embodied by the teachings of Christ.
Perhaps the pastor is in need of a few confessionals.
Sincerely
Daniel
David Barrington says
Regardless of whether or not one agrees with Scientology’s religious philosophy, Scientology has been instrumental in protect everyone’s religious freedoms and human rights. This record of accomplishments has been ackowledged by social, political and religious leaders throughout the world.
TO DAN: When I read the first part of your comment: “Regardless of the efficacy of dianetics…” it seemed to me that you may have some familiarity with Dianetics. If I’m correct, stick with that. It’s a wonderful skill to have on an “as needed” basis.
Keith Henson says
“Voranos” comments on the IRS granting scientology tax exempt status. There are two matters he does not mention, how they got the status and just how exceptional it is.
Scientology took the IRS to court and lost at the highest level (Hernandez vs the Commissioner) spending an estimated $125 million. They then paid two PIs (Krywucki and Shomers) a bit less than a million dollars to dig up or create dirt on the IRS commissioner.
Whatever they found or generated, it was enough for the IRS commissioner to resign shortly after David Miscavige and Marty Rathbun barged into his office in 1991. He was replaced by a person who was close to one of their lawyers, but may have had nothing to do with the deal the previous commissioner set in motion.
The deal the IRS gave scientology was kept secret for years until someone leaked it to the WSJ. It has provisions for scientology that apply to no other group, in fact, the IRS contractually bound itself to give scientology unequal treatment. Look for Sklar in Google to see what the courts ruled when he tried to get the same tax exemption.
All this is presented in lots of detail on the net if you go looking. The problem is that law enforcement fears scientology, not just because their kids will be stalked, but because the cult is willing to spend gobs of money using the courts as a weapon against anyone who tried to expose them.
Me (at $1.4 million or more) being a case in point.
J. Grant Swank Jr. may be an unmitigated jerk but does not keep him from being right about the scientology cult.
Keith Henson
PS
Marty Rathbun and another high-level scientologist, Warran McShane fell out of cult leader Miscavige’s favor last year. Their names, and even their positions, were scrubbed off scientology’s web sites and their wives (who stayed in the Sea Org) were ordered to divorce them (court divorce records are online in Riverside County).
Voranos says
Re: Keith comments.
Where do you get this junk from?
Surely you cannot be basing the “net” and any Joe Blow’s website as your source of information that would just be, sorry, but “foolish”.
Anyone can put up a website and publish lies that they’ve got from some other dubious website. I mean come on … it’s not rocket science.
Let’s get to the truth of the matter which is the source of attack on Scientology is “vested interests” rooted in psychiatry and the pharmaceutical industry with the media as their mouthpiece.
Scientology is against the drugging of school children for phony mental illnesses, incarcerating people against their will to mental institutes, using electro-shock therapy, etc., etc.
So this means the psychiatric and pharmaceutical romance will get less public and government funding so in their eyes Scientology must go. There is documented case after case of source of lies and attacks against Scientology.
The truth is a Scientology is a 100% NON-PROFIT religion proven in lawcourts ALL OVER the world.
Scientology is one of the most open religions in the world with a message which is “think for yourself” and personal betterment.
I would recommend Keith that you find out what Scientology is first-hand by visiting a church and perhaps doing a course to obtain an unbiased opinion rather than foolishly absorbing up any old junk off the internet.

Re: Keith Henson
What people don’t know is that Keith Henson is a convicted hate criminal and an explosives expert.
On July 19, 2000, he was arrested by the Riverside County, California, Sheriff’s Office for making terrorist threats on the Internet against the Church of Scientology.
On April 26, 2001, a jury found Henson guilty of having committed a hate crime under section 422.6 of the California Penal Code.
He is also bankrupt, has violated copyright laws and fleed to Canada to escape paying fines.
He is facing being deported back to the US and jailed.
GRC says
What a load of bullshit this Scientology is – no facts, no proof, no nothing.
Just goes to show how gullible people can be.
Jesse says
GRC … what ARE you talking about?
I’ve been a Scientologist for over 10 years. There’s tons of facts and tons of proof on Scientology.
More importantly there are thousands (well, actually more correctly) millions of stories of success from Scientologists from the results of studying courses, receiving counselling, etc.
For crying out loud – get with the programme and get yourself educated properly on the matter before shooting your mouth on something you don’t know anything about.
