The ‘Spray Q&A: The Spinto Band

The_spinto_band_qaThe Spinto Band are coming, and they’re going to blow your mind with their lazy catchy brilliance.

Having already graced the pages of NME with a bunch of porky pies, The Spinto Band are getting ready to unleash their first UK single – Mountains/Brown Boxes – on November 28th, while their debut album Nice And Nicely Done follows in Spring. We’ve heard a little of it, and to say we’re salivating with expectation is an enormous understatement.

We caught up with The Spinto Band for a chat about all kinds of stuff…

Who are you, and where are you?
We are The Spinto Band, and we were all born in Wilmington, Delaware.

Why should people buy your records?

Honestly? I couldn’t begin to answer that.

People always mention Pavement and Weezer when they talk about you. Is that a fair description?
No.

You’re being bandied about as a Next Big Thing. Feeling the pressure?

Bandied?

Word association round. Ready…
Bicycle – Tyre
Japan – Japanese people
Kazoo – James Spader
Robot – Snowbot

What does exiguous mean?
My, you gave me an exiguous amount of time to answer that!

Why are people always so down on Delaware?
They are? At the most, there is only a great amount of indifference directed at Delaware.

Preach about something you love (not related to your music) in less than 100 words.
I
started collecting these books called Make it Yourself. They’re from
late 60′s or early 70′s and contain gorgeous colour photographs of
beautiful girls wearing knitted clothing.

What’s on your iPod?
I don’t have one, but I’d like to get one for free somehow.

Favourite movie soundtrack?

A Clockwork Orange or Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid.

Motorhead have Cheese And Chive Ruffles on their rider. What’s on yours?
We’re
not as big as Motorhead so we can’t ask for the fancy stuff, but one
time a club gave us a vegetable platter with hummus dip and it was
delicious.

Tell us about your plans to conquer Europe.
We’re using the same triptik Napoleon used.

What are you going to do right now?
Play Text Twist.
