The Goonies 2: Will it be Funny to See a Fully-Grown Man Truffle Shuffling?

by Ian Dransfield on August 5, 2008 44 Comments

goonies 2 confirmed? maybe, maybe not. corey feldman, chunk, sloth, spielberg - the whole gang! maybe.Do we really need to see a grown man truffle shuffle?

That’s the question that has been buzzing around in our heads for the past few hours after news that there’s a distinct chance that the Goonies 2 film, rumoured for so very long, is actually in the early stages of real, bona-fide production.

And if the sources are to be believed, this isn’t a case of The Lost Boys 2: Straight To DVD And Missing The Point Of The First Completely – this is something Warner Brothers want to actually try and get right.

So how do we feel about that? Well, I would say we have mixed emotions.

See, everyone remembers The Goonies – it’s one of those films that everyone claims as their own, or that everyone claims defined their childhood in some way.

Kind of like Stand By Me, but with less River Phoenix. It just had a huge effect on so many young lives, older lives, middling lives and lives that came about later on – it’s a timeless classic. We’ll admit to that. We will – see? We just did it.

The fact that there have been rumours floating about regarding the possibility of a Goonies sequel for so long is sure to get anyone’s hackles up and turn them into the defensive wall of fury, angrily denying that anything will come about from any of this.

And we would never take that away from you – please feel free to shout, scream and generally be twits in the comments section below.

But when you pick up on news that says Warner Brothers are pushing the sequel as a big-budget blockbuster (and remember, this is the studio that released The Dark Knight, officially the best film ever), you start to take notice.

In fact, a source close to the project has told Moviehole that a team of writers are already working on a script and that some of the actors from the original film will be involved.

So how do we feel about the real prospect of a Goonie sequel? Well, taking such a cherished childhood memory and giving it a massive makeover, bringing the sequel to a whole new audience and churning millions of dollars into it could just result in this situation: you sit in the cinema, the film starts, it’s one and a half hours comprising of nothing but a turd staring back at you, steaming away on screen and stinking up the theatre.

You cry.

Your heart is broken.

Your childhood is ruined.

You lose all respect for Corey Feldman… wait – is that possible?

Nevertheless, hecklerspray awaits with baited breath for any further news on the matter.

When the movie does eventually come about we’ll be sure to decry it, lambast it and generally rip on it. Because let’s be honest here – we want it to be good, but there’s little chance The Goonies 2 will be anything more than fecal matter on a stick.

Corey haim has the blondish hair and blue eyes and was in lucas and the new crank 2 movie. He played sam the younger brother in lost boys. And corey feldman has brown hair and brown eyes and he played edgar frog in the lost boys and he played the little boy dressed as a tree in the first gremlins movie

I hate to be “that guy” but in this scenario, the word is “bated”–one waits with “bated” breath. As in abate, withold, abstain….not baited as in lure, load, etc.

Also, a new Goonies could be all kinds of sweeeeeet!

That is hilarious!! It’s one of the first things I noticed when reading this article, too! I said, in my mind, “It’s ‘bated’, not ‘baited’.” A couple of nit-pickers, eh?

This would be sooo cool to have a GOONIES sequel! They have to bring back the original Chunk and Data for sure or I ain’t goin to see it! They we’re the most Unforgettable characters of them all. Hopefully Josh Brolin will do it again if he ain’t too big of a “moviestar”.

How can you justify saying that, just because Warner made Dark Knight (which let me tell you, was not the best movie ever made, people just had to see and say “oh my god, heath or however the fuck you spell that idiots name), goonies 2 is gonna be great!?!?

It’s like comparing different sony products and saying that just because sony made the bravia… you get my point no?

Goonies was a cornerstone in adventure movie making. Yes, there have been some great adventure movies since, but to try create a sequel will do nothing less than ruin the original.

Go fuck yourselves Warner.

An easy way to remember it is Haim = Ham. He got fat.

Feldman = Mouth.

Dont lambast it yet.It looks like there really seriouse in making Goonies 2 a success but dont expect it to be better then the original. They will never capture that again it was a one time deal which is what i thought the Goonies was anyway since it took them over 20 years to finaly decide to make a sequle. They should have done this 2 or 3 years after the original when the was still white hot.

Im hoping it will be good anyway for the sake if pissing on my and everyone elses childhood again like they did with Indi and other 80s sequels.Ill be rooting for them to get this one right anyway as a fan.I was about 8 when Goonies was released so im about 4 years younger then these guys. And millions poorer.

Is it funny to see a full-grown man truffle shuffling? I’ll let you judge for yourself. This is a video of DC radio host Chad Dukes doing it to pay off losing a weight-loss bet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxGXXozQhnw

I dont know of anyone who does not like the goonies. What I don’t understand is how is whould a sequel that is not great ruin the original film? I would love a second movie of the goonies… but in the event that it blows, I just wont buy the movie to watch at home. i will just keep enjoying the original.

I think making a sequel of Goonies is a really bad idea it will ruin the image of the first movie. It is meant to be left in its originality.

Hmm most of you people are retarded. How could making a new movie hurt the original movie? Goonies kicked ass, its one of my all time favorite movies. I’ve wanted for a long time for them to make a sequel or to just remake the original. I just want to see something new with the Goonies. If a new movies sucks then it sucks, its not gonna change the first one in any way. I don’t know why people think it would be “pissing on your childhood” or whatever, sounds like people need to take things less personally. Its just a movie, the first one was badass, and I would love to have another Goonies movie. If you think it’s gonna suck, don’t watch it. I personally can’t wait to check it out!

this is a message for justice.

i have just been reading some of the opinions of goonies 2, i think that you came across very passionate about your own veiw, get your self a life you sad prick.

oh and you said “warner should go fuck themselves” you obviosley know everything about making a movie! so what do you do for a living? (if anything that is)

is heath really an idiot? cause unlike you i never met him so i would not know.

I think they should make a goonies sequel. And maybe it could be them finding the treasure again be cause the first movie was kind of left unfinished. I just hope it won’t be as bad as the lost boys sequel that one kind of sucked they could have found some one else to play the lead role instead of that fag from american pie band camp. And corey haim is not that fat he’s not like how val kilmer got plus corey feldman is fat too.
