That said, actor Carroll Spinney, best known for his Sesame Street characters Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch, had a woman jogger’s body turn up in a shed on his property. 

Some say fist-sized clumps of blue fur were found at the scene, and Grover was last seen frantically running, bug eyed and whimpering, out of state.

A body was found Tuesday on the property of Carroll Spinney, best
known for his portrayals of both Big Bird and Oscar the grouch on the
long time children’s public television program Sesame Street.  Police
have charged his caretaker, 36-year-old Scott Deojay with kidnapping.
Murder charges have been delayed due to jurisdiction issues.

44-year-old Judith Nilan went out for a jog on Tuesday and didn’t
come back. Her husband then reported her missing. Police found her
sweatband near a bloodied receipt signed by Deojay, and a set of skid
marks. They also discovered a bloody trail where the body had been
dragged from a car to the shed.

Big Bird’s caretaker Deojay claimed to have accidentally hit the
victim with his automobile, then in a panic stuffed her into his car
and drove her to Spinney’s property. When Nilan’s body was discovered
by police, her arms were tied behind her back, the rope also wrapped
around her neck and ankles. Nilan’s pants had been pulled down, and
her head appeared bludgeoned. An autopsy is being performed to
determine exact cause of death, and whether there had been a sexual
assault. 

The caretaker reportedly hung himself in his garage after police
questioning, but cut himself down when his girlfriend dialled 911. Deojay is now being held on $500,000 bail, and another court hearing is
set for Friday.

Police have said that Spinney, aka Big Bird, had absolutely nothing to do with this crime.
