The last season of X Factor was, let's face it, a lot of arse. But perhaps the next one won't be if Simon Cowell makes a few crafty notes during American Idol.
Forget personality-deficient numbskulls churning out one witless powerballad after another, what we want to see is men dressed up as furry pimp-angels. Furry pimp-angels who sing songs about about brotherhood. Furry pimp-angels who sing songs about about brotherhood that just consist of one verse repeated over and over again. What we want to see, in short, is Renaldo Lapuz.
Renaldo Lapuz is the musical visionary from American Idol responsible for the song You Are My Brother, a tune so stirring that we're not ashamed to admit that it reduced us to tears. If Renaldo Lapuz released You Are My Brother as a single we'd buy it. We'd buy ten. Heck, we'd buy Renaldo Lapuz and ride him around town on piggyback singing You Are My Brother through a loudspeaker. That is how much we love Renaldo Lapuz.
