Grown Up Gossip & Internet Villainy

Too Many Pubes, Too Few Laughs at the MTV Movie Awards

April 16th, 2013 By Chris Chambers

Rebel-wilsonEvery year, the MTV Movie Awards are underwhelming ? and, sadly,?this year was no exception. Despite being hosted by the infinitely likable Rebel Wilson, the show was predictable, boring,?and way too?focused on?gross pubic hair jokes.

By this point, the world has accepted that MTV is a music channel in name only … much more interested overall in miserable, shit programming, like 16 & Pregnant and Jersey Shore ? but why does it need to have its own movie awards??MTV has been broadcasting the Movie Awards since 1992, and it has never made much sense. Music Video Awards, sure … but why does the world need yet another movie awards show, especially so long after the endless?season of legitimate awards shows is finally over??MTV must offer a special twist.

U.S. Election 2012: Celebrities Decide Who’s the Boss

November 5th, 2012 By Chris Starr

Election 2012

We’re just mere hours away from the most important day in the United States of America: election day. And of course, there have been screeds – miles of newspaper reports – written about the economic, social, war and foreign policies of the two presidential candidates.

But nowadays no-one gives a shit about that. We’re a celebrity-driven culture. You’re reading HecklerSpray. You want to know who to? vote for not on the basis of the candidates’ positions, but on their celebrity endorsers. Who’s endosring Barack Obama, and who’s for Mitt Romney? Think of it like Celebrity Deathmatch: Politics Edition.

Will Ferrell Announces Anchorman 2, Which Is Great News For Thick People

March 29th, 2012 By Mof Gimmers

Will Ferrell is one of the worst things ever to happen to anything. He’s up there with Adam Sandler, Sarah Silverman and Robert Mugabe. And all of these people are mystifyingly popular with gawping idiots.

Ferrell, presumably mugging in someone’s face and making farting noises right now, has a criminal record of tawdry comedy as long as your hecklerspray‘s face.

And our face is so very long because Ferrell has announced that he’s bringing?newscaster Ron Burgundy back in a sequel to Anchorman.

The Other Guys – Blu-ray Review

August 5th, 2012 By David Scarborough

It was only a matter of time until Mark Wahlberg embraced the fact that he was fast turning into bumbling platypus that Tinsletown pointed and laughed at.

Firstly, he had the indignity of dubbing himself ?Marky Mark,? affiliating himself with the hideously named Funky Bunch, starring in numerous so-so movies (under the guise of serious acting), and finally topping it off with a verbal joust with a resolute plant. Which, the plant won.

Its these previous overly po-faced performances that probably make him such a joy to watch throughout the latest Will Ferrell chuckle-fest, The Other Guys. That and the script, direction and all the other actors, obviously.

New Dreamworks Movie – Megamind – Starring Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt and Tina Fey! With Added Something Or Other!

September 14th, 2010 By Mof Gimmers

Feature length animations! HAR HAR! They’re funny aren’t they? You’re only ever 2 feet away from someone who is thinking “it’s good this film because it has some jokes for the adults in as well!” INNUENDO! HAR HAR!

Of course, these things are all exercises in cynicism, but y’know, all films are aren’t they? Why are we even whining about it? We’re jaded, that’s why. Please don’t copy our attitude and behaviour because it’ll only end up in a failed cry for help.

Anyway, (cue: Fanfare) From the studio that brought you ‘Shrek’, ‘Madagascar’ and ‘Kung Fu Panda’ comes a film about a diabolical super-villain called Megamind who has failed to conquer Earth for over 20 years. That’s because caped superhero Metro Man keeps getting in his way.

Weekend Box Office: The Other Guys Is Better Than Inception

August 8th, 2010 By Stuart Heritage

Inception has topped the weekend box office for so long that we were starting to wonder if anything could beat it.

But something has. A film has come along and surpassed Inception and its tricksy time structures, impeccable direction and impressive refusal to pander to its audience. But what incredible, Inception-topping masterpiece is this?

Why, it’s The Other Guys – the film where Will Ferrell pulls some funny faces and Mark Wahlberg plays a clueless beefhead. Admittedly we’ve just described every film that Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg have ever starred in, but shut up. The Other Guys is number one, so it’s objectively a better film than Inception. Full US weekend box office top five after the jump…

Will Ferrell Earns Much More Money Than He Should: Official

November 19th, 2009 By Stuart Heritage

Will Ferrell, Will Ferrell Overpaid, Forbes, Ewan McGregor, Naomi Watts, Tom Cruise, Billy Bob ThorntonThis is just a hunch, but we’re expecting Will Ferrell to be named as People‘s sexiest man alive next year.

Because, seriously, that man is loaded. He gets paid so much money. Too much money, in fact. And he doesn’t deserve a bloody penny of it. That’s according to Forbes, at least – Will Ferrell has come out on top of a list 0f Hollywood’s most overpaid stars. The list claims that Will Ferrell only earns his investors a return of $3.29 for every dollar he’s paid.

Why such a poor figure? Well, it’s partly because Land Of The Lost flopped, partly because comedy is notoriously difficult to sell around the world and partly because Will Ferrell has cold dead eyes and a rapist’s haircut. Possibly.

landofthelostWill Ferrell is back for more.

Up Beats Off Will Ferrell At The Weekend Box Office

June 7th, 2009 By Stuart Heritage

Up, Weekend Box Office, land Of The Lost, Will FerrellIn these days of giant fighting space robots, it’s rare for a movie to top the weekend box office for more than a week.

But Up‘s done it. Pixar’s heartwarming tale of a little old man who becomes so insane with indescribable grief that he literally has to leave the face of the Earth has remained number one at the US weekend box office.

See Dreamworks? This is how you sell a cartoon. Now make sure that Kung Fu Panda 2 ends with the panda developing a harrowing alcohol dependency, and be quick about it. There’s money to be made!
