It feels like there is little to do in this week’s deconstruction, given that the episode itself does a good job of stripping away anything interesting or remotely entertaining from the new series.
When last we left, the survivors were either holed up in the temple with Captain Sunshine and Mr. Yoko Ono or on a journey across the Island with Smokey McLocke. This episode fails, like many previous episodes have, by focusing on Kate and her bland unlawful pre-island habits.
While it was a shock back in season one that Kate was an outlaw on the run from the cops, it has become a bit of a tiresome retread come season six. It all but stops dead the gargantuan pace that the splendid opener created, leaving Cocke completely absent from the episode and instead, having to turn to the recently hard-boiled Sayid for any type of nourishment.
