The Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame award thingy is pretty pointless isn’t it? Essentially, it confirms that you’re old and now past it. Isn’t Phil Collins in there? Well then. That said, this year’s ragged crew look like they’d make for a fun and weird dinner party.

Alice Cooper, Neil Diamond, Dr. John, Darlene Love and Tom Waits are all being inducted next year and the class of 2011 will be asked to attend a lavish bash filled with circus freaks spewing regurgitated cocaine paste from their throats on March 14th in New York.

Tom Waits has been nominated before, but unfathomably, Neil Diamond hasn’t. Still, we can heartily back the decision to stick a finger up at Bon Jovi who have yet to get love from whoever the crap it is decides who goes into this imagined wall-space.

The best news is that Alice Cooper is getting recognised. Why? Well, he’s piss-funny isn’t he? No-one ever bought his shock tactics, which is why everyone is kinda glad he’s stuck around so long. He’s always been a helpless shill, first off hawking Iggy Pop’s Stooge thrill-ride and making it safer and camper, paving the way for daft sods like Kiss and Marilyn Manson.

It was only a matter of time before he appeared in a cereal advert with Ronnie Corbett.

His songs have been good value when he’s in the mood too, with School’s Out being the soundtrack to kids finishing for the summer holidays and of course, Poison is one of the funnest poodle rock songs ever written. He’s no dummy though, bagging himself four platinum LPs and a handful of  Top 40 singles.

And he reckons it really is time he got himself a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

“I’ve always felt the same way about this whole thing. I kind of sat back and said, ‘It will happen eventually.’ ”

“It did get to be kind of a joke, not being nominated. I got to the point where I was saying, ‘OK, I’m the Pete Rose of rock ‘n’ roll!’ So now that it’s a reality, it’s a different take on it. Now I sit there and go, ‘Wow. Wow! We’ve got to really get up and play, and assume the position of being in the Hall of Fame.’ It’ll be great.”

Weirdly, Kiss (who ripped his style good and proper) got on the ballot was in 2009.

“That one stung a little bit. I sat there and went, ‘Now, wait a minute…Really? Are we invisible here, or what?’ ”

We can only hope that, at his Hall of Fame show, Cooper pulls out the stops and gets the guillotine and gallows out to try and make everyone puke with laughter in the front two rows of the ceremony.

With Dr John’s black magick soul and Tom Waits gonzo weirdness, it could be one of the most stupidly fun Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame shows in history.

Scarlett Johansson (the actress – and now singer – famous for having Scarlett Johansson’s boobs on her chest; you know the one?) has blasted two of hecklerspray’s most cherished celebrities!

The outrageous harlot has dared to declare that the musical talent of our Paris Hilton and our Lindsay Lohan is not quite her cup of tea.

How dare she? Just who does she think she is? Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan have a put a lot of good, honest, hard-work into getting where they are today, yet where is the respect? Do you think those cocks suck themselves?

No, of course they don’t. If they did humanity would have become extinct a long, long time ago.

It takes a good deal of effort to say ‘ah’ for that amount of time and with that amount of people. There are literally girlfriends out there, all over the world right now (possibly even reading this), who wouldn’t even say ‘ah’ to their own boyfriends for much more than a minute each week.

Sometimes less.

It is because of this abhorrent crime to humanity that Scarlett can say what she damn well wants, but the fact remains that Paris and Lindsay are a rare breed indeed, and hecklerspray will continue to salute these pioneers in all of their artistic ventures, futile as they may be.

Scarlett told Spin Magazine:

I have no relationship with either Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton, even as far as my lifestyle or the music I listen to. They probably made music that fits with their lifestyle – ‘Wouldn’t it be great if I were dancing to my own song in the club?’ My album is more suited to my lifestyle. I live a very low-key life.

Yeah, you better hope you do, Johansson, or else you’ll be joining 50 Cent on hecklerspray’s hit-list.

One difference between our girls and Scarlett though, is that Scarlett (who is soon to release ‘Anywhere I Lay My Head’ – a Tom Waits cover album – making her little more than jumped up karaoke singer) has received at least one rave review about her musical ability from someone, albeit that someone being Jessica Simpson – someone who wouldn’t know good music if she was grinding her for-hire-arse up against it – who told Esquire magazine:

I really respect her, and I think she’s an unbelievable talent at a young age. And she is unbelievably beautiful. Plus, she gets to work with the best of the best.

Is she really that unbelievable? Granted, her boobs are unfathomable, but do any of you really find that watching Scarlett Johansson act makes you question your whole belief system regarding the upper-limits of human talent?

What Jessica actually offers is a nice, but essentially trite, and ultimately invalid, appraisal. You’re gonna have to come up with better than the child-talk of Jessica Simpson, Johansson, to pull hecklerspray away from the lure of reporting Paris and Lindsay’s day to day activities.

If you want to receive our support, then it’s time to do what any self respecting female artist would do: Toss your artistic integrity into the abyss and open wide.
