Hello Soap Fans! Have a good week? No? Brilliant. We hope you’re all miserable.

It’s time to find out what’s happening in the land of made up people this week and you can be grateful that you won’t have to gaze upon anyone dressed as a Pearly Queen ever again. Well except our editor Mof when we put those Polaroids up later.

As usual we’re off to Eastenders first this week where ‘Lip’ has escaped from Shameless for the afternoon, calls himself ‘Rob’ and decides he’d like to be evil to Whitney again at the seaside. When Whitney turns up to meet Lee at the park she realises that it’s all been a big setup and that no-one really wants to go out with her, mainly because she always looks a bit grubby.  She manages to escape from Rob by diving head first into a moving  car full of cast members conveniently going to Southend, including that Heather one who makes us want to self harm using the jaggy edge of our Pot Noodle soy sauce sachet.

Shameless has been transmitting on these shores for some time now, chronicling the weird, skuzzy, bloodshot world of Frank Gallagher and his ultra dysfunctional family and friends. Of course, it’s more than a mere piss-up and between the cracks in the paving stone lies some real heart.

It’s a much loved show, underlined by the fact that people have resorted to arguing about it being not as good as it used to be… yes it is… no it isn’t… yes is it… no it… you get the idea.

So brace yourself as you’re going to look at it through American eyes. Of course, this is always pretty weird. The Office took some getting used to when it went Stateside (and in some respects, is better than the UK equivalent). Will Shameless follow suit? Read More >>>

We’ve not been this put off a new TV series since the Bad Girls pilot. In fact, the likelihood of a good series coming from E4 is akin to that of finding a hen’s tooth, or Tess Daly‘s soul.

Imagine the disquiet and shock which consumed us when we saw the first episode of this teen-insert genre here and discovered it’s actually quite good. Maybe Tess Daly has a soul after all.*
