SLACKERJACK – Mini Train

by Stuart Heritage

Oh Mini Train is adorable. Seriously, it is! Just look at it – look at the brightly-coloured shapes and the little choo choo train. It’s adorable. Except for when you do badly at Mini Train, that is. Fail to put the brightly-coloured shapes in exactly the right position to ensure the train a smooth transition [...]

SLACKERJACK – Janey Thomson’s Marathon

by Stuart Heritage

There’s no two ways about this – Janey Thomson’s Marathon is easily the best online marathon sim you’ll ever play. You may remember Janey Thomson’s Marathon from the early 1980s, where it was briefly popular until children started being hospitalised because of crippled hands. But health and safety be damned – Janey Thomson’s Marathon is [...]

SLACKERJACK – Vase Breaker

by Stuart Heritage

Let’s get right to it – breaking things is brilliant. There’s nothing better than taking something that someone has spent hours, possibly even days, crafting and the obliterating it in a second. That sort of behaviour tends to be looked down on in some circles, so here’s the next best thing – Vase Breaker. In [...]

SLACKERJACK – Pirate Launch

by Stuart Heritage

Hang around here long enough and you’ll soon come to realise that we ruddy well love our launch games. Pirate Launch is no different. Pirate Launch is a blinding variation on a game you’re probably all sick to death of by now – you fire something out of a cannon to see how far you [...]

SLACKERJACK – Bricks ‘N’ Match

by Stuart Heritage

If you’ve played Bejeweled on your phone so much that even hearing the name Bejeweled makes you want to vomit, here’s Bricks ‘N’ Match. Bricks ‘N’ Match is a lot like Bejeweled in that you have to remove tiles from a screen by lining up three identically-coloured ones. But Bricks ‘N’ Match asks you to [...]

SLACKERJACK – Smoking Kills

by Stuart Heritage

Everyone loves a sniper game, don’t they? Sniper games are so cool, what with all that shooting one person once and then not doing anything else. Cool. Which is good, because Smoking Kills is a sniper game. Sort of. It’s a very self-aware kind of sniper game, with missions that deride you for not following [...]

SLACKERJACK – Obama Vs Fly

by Stuart Heritage

Typical hecklerspray, always three weeks behind the Zeitgeist. Anyway, shut up because this time it’s totally worth it. Remember that time when Barack Obama killed a fly like some sort of ninja? Here’s the game version of that. In Obama Vs Fly, you play the fly. All you need to do is sit on Obama’s [...]

SLACKERJACK – Tetri Tower

by Stuart Heritage

Read the name of this game again. Tetri Tower. Not Tetris Tower. Tetri Tower has got nothing to do with Tetris. Nothing at all. Except, you know, for how it looks and how you play it and everything about it. In Tetri Tower you have to stack shapes on top of each other, just like [...]

SLACKERJACK – Closure

by Stuart Heritage

Online games can be many things – tinny, repetitive, rubbish – but it’s not often that we get to call a game creepy. Closure sorts that one out nicely.

Darkness is important to Closure, because it not only takes up the majority of the screen at any time but is actually integral to the gameplay too. You need to carry a torch to illuminate the level. Drop the torch and venture into the darkness and you die. It’s that simple. And, again, creepy. We can’t really make that point enough.

SLACKERJACK – Filler 2

by Stuart Heritage

Remember Filler, the game where you had to fill a square with balls without any of the hitting any other balls? Do you? Good, because here’s Filler 2, and it’s about as different from Filler as you could expect. In Filler 2 you have to, um, fill a square with balls without any of the [...]
