Sponsored Video: Live Singing in New Les Mis?rables Film Will Be Awesome

October 19th, 2012 By Chris Starr

Russell Crowe in Les MIserables

Want to see Sacha Baron Cohen, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and Hugh Jackman sing live? I know I do. Les Miserables’ producers and director have taken the ballsy decision to get some of Hollywood’s biggest A-listers to perform without a safety net: there won’t be any autotuning after the event here.

It’s the first ever time that singing has been performed live without any post-production dubbing in a musical, and as you can see from the video below, the likes of Anne Hathaway were a little nervous at first.

Strewth! Crikey! Rebecca Black Gears Up For An Australian Tour

September 27th, 2011 By Matthew Laidlow

Not a lot has ever really happened in Australia. Since that awkward event with Dorothy and the wizard who controls all of the inhabitants in Oz, there hasn’t been much to sing and dance about.

Unless you count cracking open a warm tins of Fosters and being distrustful of the indigenous aboriginal folk, Australians have little to look forward to.

However, in a hecklerspray exclusive, it's been revealed to us that the Australian government are about to allow the population to listen to something other than INXS. Australians were told Michael Hutchence died from natural causes; not through an accidental self-pleasure mishap. So which world famous musician or band has been allowed to fly in and showcase their talents? We've been told that Lee Ryan and Muse were busy, so YouTube sensation Rebecca Black has been booked instead.

Rebecca Black Gives Her Haters Something To Chew On With Her New Video, ‘My Moment’

July 19th, 2011 By Matthew Laidlow

The internet has always been a damaging tool for unintended material to go viral. All you need to do is type ?Star Wars Kid? into YouTube to see multiple mocked up videos of the original showing someone emulating one of the characters… or if you prefer, some tubby kid being roundly mocked for having fun.

Twitter has the ability to make a piece of footage go viral in seconds thanks to the power of retweets. One such person who fell victim to this was Rebecca Black. Her parents paid for her to live the dream of a popstar but nobody knew that the song sounded so ropey due to the extreme use of autotune.

At first, the taunts were confined to users describing the song as rubbish. But when personalised threats of violence were uttered, it all got a bit out of hand. But in true Disney esque style, Rebecca Black has come out on top and has released a more polished follow up.

Album Review: Arborea ‘Red Planet’

August 7th, 2012 By Mof Gimmers

Folk music has been taking a bit of a kicking of late with bands and artists claiming folkiness by virtue of the fact they bought themselves an acoustic guitar and couldn’t find someone to drum for them.

And so, the circle jerk of self-confessional, mewing horsepiss continues as acts open their hearts to the listener with imagined woes and vague interested in Olde World topics such as hangmen and infanticide, when really, they’d rather be listening to the awful Florence And The Machine or something.

However, some folkies get it just right, channelling the ghosts of music past and recreating that echoing eeriness of mountain music without trying to sound like a revivalist act. One such group are Arborea who have two impressive LPs to their name already, and here we are, faced with their third, ‘Red Planet’.

Radiohead To Release Invariably Turgid ‘The King Of Limbs’ Later This Week (Muse Already Copying Ideas From It)

February 14th, 2011 By Mof Gimmers

Radiohead are delightfully obtuse aren’t they? Those crazy guys gave an album away for very little money (good thing as it was of very little quality) and Thom Yorke has an eye so low down his skull that he can tickle his Adam’s Apple with his eyelashes.

And now, totally toying with our preconceived notions of what a band should do, maaaaan, they’re releasing a new album called ‘The King Of Limbs’ on February 19th.

That’s this Saturday! They didn’t let us know months in advance! Because they’re like that! That’s just sooooooo Radiohead isn’t it? ISN’T IT? You guys! If they were any more edgy, our heads might actually explode with kaleidoscopic tedium.

Music Review: The Vaselines ‘Sex With An X’

August 5th, 2012 By Mof Gimmers

It is almost impossible to write about The Vaselines without mentioning Nirvana. Kurt Cobain called the Scottish group his ?most favourite song writers in the whole world.? He loved them so much that he took ?em on tour, covered their songs (?Molly?s Lips?, ?Son of a Gun? and ?Jesus Don't Want Me For a Sunbeam?) and named his daughter after Frances McKee.

And still now, they're relatively unknown in many circles and still need mention of a person more famous to attract people?s attention.

The sad thing is, that in a perfect world, The Vaselines would be as famous as can be. Lesser bands have gone on to fill huge stadiums with dreary, piddling landfill rock ?n? bore while The Vaselines cut some achingly lovely jangly heartache and fuzzed-up indie skuzz. And here they are, with a new LP called ?Sex With An X? which combines brutal noise and harmonies soaked in sun.
