We’ve had Smoke Monsters, mysterious ‘Others’ and buttons that save the world, but with the Island having disappeared things have seriously gotten weird.

Now we take a look at the fantastically mind-bending Lost and its best moments as it flashes back onto our screens this weekend with the start of series 5.

Oh, and for God’s sake stop asking about the stupid polar bears!

10: S2E14 One of Them

Sayid beats up Henry (Ben), while Locke and Jack argue outside… but the clock is ticking.

Push comes to shove with Jack and Locke, as Sayid is torturing Ben (or Henry Gale as we then knew him), while Jack demands it to stop. Locke refuses to let him into the safe to end things but as the numbers count down the tension rises. To finish of this great scene is some great acting by Michael Emerson as the safe door closes. He stares at Sayid after receiving the beating of a lifetime looking like the victor.

9: S03E08 Flashes Before Your Eyes

Desmond turns the failsafe key in the Hatch and is transported back in time.

This episode stands out as one of Lost’s best. It was so unpredictable and enjoyable as Desmond wakes up after the Hatch detonation in the past. This cemented Desmond as one of the show’s best characters.

8: S04E09 The Shape of Things to Come

Ben hides in his house as mercenaries hold his daughter outside at gunpoint.

Benjamin Linus; You bug-eyed bastard! Not one to give in, he insists on negotiating with the mercenary currently holding a gun to his daughter’s head. Declaring that he doesn’t care about her, she gets a swift bullet to the noggin. A great scene, we see Ben’s whole world crumbling around him with just one look on his face.

7: S01E19 Deus Ex Machina

Screaming into the Hatch, Locke has lost faith until a light shines from the mysterious window.

This scene at the time was one filled with so much mystery and intrigue. Now we know what caused it, it takes away the initial wonderment of the situation. Never the less, this scene remains powerful and shows that when we lose all hope sometimes all that remains is faith. It was striking visual imagery and plays perfectly against the music score.

6: S01E01 Pilot

Jack wakes up in the jungle and stumbles onto the beach and into rescue mode in the midst of the crash site.

The crash site scene stands out as the most exciting opening to any television series we have ever seen. In fact we would say it was the most exciting opening to anything we have ever scene. So much happens and it is a great introduction to the cast and characters. It shows you everybody’s characteristics – Jack having to save everyone, Michael whining about Walt, Jin being overprotective of Sun, Boone trying to help but being rubbish, Locke guiding people, Claire being helped by others and Shannon being a useless dick.

5: S02E20 Two For The Road

Michael returns from the Others’ camp and shoots both Ana Lucia and Libby.

This scene was the most unexpected twist in series 2. Michael is such a tragic character and it’s understandable why he did this (Although now we know what he got asked to do we are sure he could have thought of a better way). Still, the shock of Ana Lucia and Libby’s shootings was then multiplied when Michael shot himself!

4: S02E23 Live Together, Die Alone

Locke and Desmond let the clock count down in the Hatch.

The last part of the Season 2 finale was epic. Not only did we get the Hatch implosion but it was again the emotional story of Desmond that helped give the proceedings impact. We don’t care if the electromagnet stuff doesn’t make sense, it’s just so cool when the sky turns purple.

3: S03E19 The Brig

Sawyer finally comes face to face with the man responsible for his parents’ death – Locke’s dad!

This was a great wrapping-up of a character arc between Sawyer and Locke’s dad (Anthony Cooper). Sawyer finally confronting the person responsible for his parents’ death was a wonderfully acted and written scene. It showed us that Lost isn’t all about the sci-fi and Sawyer isn’t all about being shirtless for the ladies.

2: S03E22 Through The Looking Glass

Jack’s flashback finale episode is revealed to be a post-Island flash-forward!

This was another great plot twist for Lost. Throughout the finale flashback of season 3 we, like many of you, probably thought it was going nowhere and was just another flashback involving Jack moaning and being bitter about his ex-wife again (yawn). Then comes Kate at the end and it just sends your brain into a scramble until you get those fantastic last lines “We weren’t meant to leave! We have to go back Kate! We have to go back!” Growing a beard out of depression never seemed so appealing.

1: S01E04 Walkabout

After Locke gets rejected before a Walkabout holiday, it’s revealed he was in a wheelchair before he crashed on the Island.

Poor, poor Locke. After being dumped by his girlfriend and having his kidney stolen by his dad, he’s working at a lame box company and is a bit of a cripple. His only light at the end of the tunnel is the outback holiday in Australia and he gets told to go home when he gets there.

This scene is our number one because it encompasses everything that makes Lost so great;

First – there is the reveal of Locke in the wheelchair; probably Lost’s first big twist.

Second – we have the mystery aspect; how did he get paralysed in the first place, and how he is able to walk now?

Lastly – it is superbly written and acted. The scene is so powerful and moving that it tells us everything about John Locke in just a few moments.

This was when we realised we were addicted to Lost. Never before has a TV show consistently slapped us with its constant originality, twists and turns. Roll on Series 5!

Have you ever thought about which are your favourite moments in Star Wars? It’s tougher than you think.

For starters, there are six films. Although, to be honest, the three prequels rarely entered our minds when coming up with the list. Then there is the fact that we had to somehow whittle it down to just 10, which is almost impossible.

It could seriously have been a top 100, but there are limits, right? And we really wanted to come up with the perfect 10.

10. Jabba killed
Return of the Jedi

Now, this could easily have been simply Princess Leia in a gold bikini. But combine it with Princess Leia dressed in a gold bikini choking the life out of a big, fat monster with her slave chain and you get, er, what sounds like a scene from an S&M dungeon.

9. ‘Let’s blow this thing and go home’
A New Hope

We used to know a lad at school who once told us he hated the Star Wars arcade game because he always died in the Death Star trench bit. He said: “I just don’t understand it. It tells me to use the force, so I let go of the controls, but I always crash.” Suffice to say, we had no idea why he did that. Thankfully, Luke Skywalker was not so boneheaded and with a little help from Han Solo finally gets to destroy the Death Star. Just brilliant!

8. Yoda fighting
Attack of the Clones

Yoda finally dropping the hyperbole and picking up his lightsabre was certainly a brave decision by George Lucas. Goodwill towards Lucas was in short supply at that point and he could have got it so wrong. Thankfully, he didn’t. And it is without doubt one of the best scenes in the series and deserves its place.

7. AT-AT attack
The Empire Strikes Back

The Imperial ground assault on the Rebel base on Hoth is certainly one of the most exciting action sequences in the whole series. It happens surprisingly quite early in Empire Strikes Back, and the effects (just about) hold up to today’s standards.

6. Greedo gets it
A New Hope

Greedo’s demise at the hands of Han Solo is certainly one of the most memorable scenes in the series. It’s the climax to an incredible bar scene in Mos Eisley, where we are treated to the strangest creatures ever seen on screen since the Olsen twins.

5. Enter Darth Vader
A New Hope

Has there ever been a better entrance? We really don’t think anyone had ever seen anything like it before.
A really tall, asthmatic guy dressed as a Nazi? Whatever next! Prince Harry maybe?

4. Shot of Luke and the suns
A New Hope
A really poignant moment as Luke Skywalker gazes longingly into the night sky. We’re welling up now just thinking of it. Thinking of it, however, is all we can do at the moment, as we can’t find a damn clip for it. Can you help?

3. ‘I Know’
The Empire Strikes Back

Han Solo responds to Princess Leia’s “I love you” in the only way he knows how. “I know” is the perfect response. It could have been a lot worse. He could have said: “No, I love you more… No, you put the phone down…” Urrgh!

2. Star Destroyer
A New Hope

There are few moments that have captured kids’ imaginations as much as the opening sequence. OK, so maybe we didn’t read the writing at the beginning (too much like school), but suddenly this ship flies into view being attacked by another ship, that just keeps getting bigger, and bigger, and bigger. Special effects were never the same again.

1. I am your Father

It’s one of the biggest shocks in movie history and the defining moment of the series.

Being a celebrity is not all it’s cracked up to be. You may look at the fancy lifestyle and think these pampered stars have it easy. Well, you’re wrong.

You try satisfying the demands of an adoring public. You try dealing with the taunts from the media. You try picking out the perfect dress for the after-Oscar party. Such heavy demands are always going to take its toll. And when celebrities lose it – they usually lose it pretty bad. It’s like watching a crazed chimp turn on their masters after being prodded by a stick for 19 hours.

And to make it worse, when they finally do explode, we revel in their misery. Watch the clips of them making tits of themselves over and over again, laughing at their misfortune. Are they not just human, after all? If you cut them, do they not bleed?

Anyway, hecklerspray has come up with the top nine moments when celebs have really lost the plot…

9. Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin shows what it takes to be a good father. What a thoughtless little pig.

8. Paula Abdul

Paula Abdul goes nuts basically about nothing. It’s really uncomfortable viewing.

7. David Hasselhoff

The Hoff is filmed by his daughter after falling off the wagon.

6. Rosie O’Donnell

Rosie O’Donnell lets rip at Elizabeth Hasselbeck, whoever she is, on The View. We think the argument was about the war in Iraq, although it ended up being the kind of babbling, directionless, full-volume, split screen squabble that you normally only hear on the last train home.

5. Bjork

Bjork decided to kick the crap out of some reporter at an airport for having the audacity to say ‘welcome to Bangkok’. Maybe it was a different airport. Maybe Bjork hates Thai food. Who knows? One thing we do probably know, however, is this is probably not a meltdown – in fact, it’s actually quite tame for the mad-as-snakes Bjork.

4. Tom Cruise

Proof, if ever you needed it, that Scientology is not good for you.

3. Crispin Glover on Letterman

So, who’s Crispin Glover again? All we know is that he should be on more talk shows.

2. Britney Spears

A bald Britney Spears finally snaps and takes her aggression out on a photographer’s car.

1. Kramer from Seinfeld

Kramer from Seinfeld loses the plot at a comedy club. Seinfield was never this funny.
