Michael Cera

Michael Cera as Scott PilgrimToday is the day we’ve all been waiting for, Edgar Wright’s latest film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World sees its release today and we couldn’t be more excited.

Well, we could be more excited because we saw the film a couple of weeks ago, we even reviewed it.

The new comic book-based action/comedy film stars our favourite actor and king of expressions Michael Cera as Scott, who must defeat seven evil exes in order to be with the girl of his dreams, literally, Ramona, played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

Such is the level of our man crush on Cera that we felt it necessary to bring you his top 10 facial expressions. The emotions he’s showcased that have changed him from obscure Canadian indie actor to Hollywood pin-up. We would have done more, but his people said they’d sue us if we published the calendar we made for the Hecklerspray office.

What would you do for the love of a good woman? Buy her flowers every day? Sure. Go and see Sex And The City 3 whenever it comes out on the cinema? Maybe. Give up your dreams just so you can hold it against her when your once-strong relationship inevitably ends in bitter recriminations and crude accusations? Probably. So how about fighting her seven evil ex-boyfriends to the death?

Forget it. As someone slightly more famous than me once said – I would do anything for love, but I won’t do that.

To be honest, I am not sure I would do he others either – but I guess that’s why I am single (no, really, I am). Thankfully, we have blokes like Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) who would, just to win the love of the quirkily-coiffured Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). And it’s a good job, as it would have been a very short film if he hadn’t. Read More >>>

Ask any shameless wannabe celebrity why they want to be famous and the answer will usually consist of money, free clothes and numerous sexual favours from women who look like they need a good rinse in Dettol.

So it comes as a great surprise to us that Michael Cera, the adorable/annoying little Canadian poppet with a face like something out of Button Moon, turned down a blowjob from a proper living, human woman.

There’s a new film coming out which you’ve probably heard about called Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. It stars deadbeat charmer Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera from Juno) who plays bass in a band called Sex Bob-omb. He falls for the elusive Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead from of Live Free or Die Hard) and she has seven exes who want to kick his arse to death.

And we have a sneaky peaky at the film in video form, along with words spoken by the mouth of director Edgar Wright (y’know? Spaced, Shaun of the Dead?).

It does actually look rather good in a trashy, comicbook Kick-Ass kinda way. Bad news if you thought Kick-Ass was rubbish or a sex-offender’s dream (c/o Daily Mail). Anyway, click over the jump for a preview. Read More >>>

Paper Heart is probably one of the kookiest, honest and unconventional stories about love you are likely to find on the DVD shelf this Valentine’s Day.

If, like us, the sight of Sandra Bullock or Matthew McConaughey gurning on a DVD cover leaves you with the uncontrollable urge to be violently ill, then this is the perfect antidote.

This is a hybrid documentary; half the time with Charlyne Yi (convincingly playing herself) interviewing people from around America on what love means to them, while, on fiction side, she starts to fall for the perpetually asexual Michael Cera.

Quirky wunderkind stand-up and Knocked Up actress Charlyne Yi is usually found around the LA stand-up circuit making all types of people chuckle.

Recently, she’s been taking a break from the mic to write and star in Paper Heart; a hybrid rom/com documentary co-starring Michael Cera.

The film is now heading to DVD for Valentine’s Day and the lovely Charlyne took some time out to talk to us about the film and all things luuuuuvveee…
