Quirky, neurotic and oh so French, actress, and film-maker Julie Delpy is a creative force to be reckoned with.
Born in Paris to a director father and an avant-garde actress mother, Delpy seemed destined to be in the movies. She started acting in films as a teenager, but in spite of her wild blonde mane and classic beauty, she quickly decided she didn’t want to be pigeonholed as just another French starlet.
So she packed her bags and enrolled in film school at NYU. She made a well-received short called Blah Blah Blah but continued acting. Her Hollywood breakthrough came in Richard Linklater’s Before Sunrise, starring alongside Ethan Hawke.
