Above all else, Heath Ledger's death was a lesson for us all that we should all get our affairs in order before we accidentally overdose on a deadly cocktail of prescription medicine while naked.

Because Heath Ledger didn't do that at all, which means his daughter Matilda has been left out of his will completely.

But rather than tear the Ledger family apart, as is usually the case when a celebrity dies with an out-of-date will, Heath Ledger's father has said that Matilda is the family's highest interest and that she will be 'looked after'. At least we think that's what he said. He was a little out of breath from shovelling all those shoe boxes of cash underneath the floorboards at the time.

There are some people who say that you attract even more fame for yourself once you’ve kicked the bucket. Princess Diana, Elvis, 2pac, Marilyn Monroe and John Lennon all still have an iconic following.

This year, Heath Ledger unexpectedly joined that list after he died from an accidental drugs overdose. Hollywood was in shock as a talented young actor was taken away from us. The news also allowed a few inevitabilities, too. Actors and actresses would unite in grief – from those who had worked with him and those who hadn’t - and the unreleased films Ledger had been working on would be certain box office smashes, plus someone somewhere would cash in along the line. And we’ve just discovered what they'll be cashing in with.

The mystery behind the untimely death of Heath Ledger has now been cleaned up, but there's still just one loose end left.

As everyone knows, Heath Ledger died because of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs - and now an investigation has been launched into the doctors who prescribed those drugs to Heath Ledger.

Needless to say, this investigation won't bring Heath Ledger back, but it might get a couple of doctors struck off, which is the next best thing. Stupid doctors with their 'cures' for all these so-called 'illnesses'. Idiots.

When Heath Ledger died, most people's first thought was "But what about the Terry Gilliam film he was making that we probably wouldn't have gone to see anyway? What about that?"

But it's OK, because Terry Gilliam has found a way to work around Heath Ledger's death in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus - Heath Ledger's character Tony will be fleshed out with appearances by Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law, who have all stepped in to remember their friend.

Not just that, but the recasting of Heath Ledger's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus role also sheds some light on the character Heath was set to play. It looks likely that Tony will be Irish, mumbling, dressed as a pirate and a bit of an uptight dick. Or something.

So it's official - an accidental overdose of sleeping pills, anti-anxiety medication, painkillers and other prescription drugs killed Heath Ledger.

The New York City medical examiner has declared that Heath Ledger died from “acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine,” in a report that's just been released.

As sad as this news is, we should focus on the positives - not only can Heath Ledger's family continue with their lives knowing that at least it wasn't suicide, but Heath Ledger looks set for pub quiz immortality by being the answer to the question "Which celebrity cause of death would get you the highest score in a game of Scrabble?"

Nobody knows if Heath Ledger died from a drug overdose or not, but there's a video floating about of Heath at a drug-filled party, so probably yes.

That seems to be the assumption of Entertainment Tonight and The Insider, though - the shows were set to broadcast the Heath Ledger drug video tonight, but they've both changed their mind and will now leave the video unseen.

Why? Well it was either because they got a sudden pang of guilt about intruding on a celebrity's intimate personal experiences or because they'd rather devote more airtime to discussing exactly how doolally Britney Spears went before she got carted off to the nuthouse. Who knows.

Although initial reports claimed that Heath Ledger died from a drug overdose - accidental or otherwise - now it appears that they might have been way off the mark.

Because now sources apparently close to the investigation into Heath Ledger's death suspect that he may have died because his heart just stopped. Whether it was a heart attack or something else - or whether these natural death claims are completely inaccurate - remains to be seen. But if it is true, then at least Jack Nicholson was wrong the other day.

And that's always heartwarming news.
