SLACKERJACK: Hanna In A Choppa

by Stuart Heritage

To be honest, the idea of flying a helicopter never really appealed to us – do that and you’re on a slippery slope to becoming Noel Edmonds, if you ask us.

But we are prepared to go as far as playing Hanna In A Choppa, because that’s so much fun it makes us want to cry. Hanna In A Choppa is, as you’d expect, a helicopter sim – but it’s beautiful. Stylish, tactile as hell and more fun than you could ever ask for, Hanna In A Choppa gets you to complete all sorts of inventive puzzle-based courses with just the right kind of learning curve to ensure you never get too bored or frustrated. Love this one.

SLACKERJACK – Ether War

by Stuart Heritage

Oh now this is a beauty. You’ll have played games like Ether War before – God knows it seems like we’ve played a billion different versions of it in the last couple of month – but none will be as spellbindingly pretty as Ether War.

Ether War’s basically, at heart, Asteroids, except you’re on a rig with other guns and the baddies are colourful orbs. Or the goodies are colourful orbs, in which case we were playing it wrong. Anyway, look at Ether War – it’s beautiful. It’s like your own private firework display that doesn’t go off at 3am two full months after Fireworks Night. What’s not to like?

SLACKERJACK – Draw Play 3

by Stuart Heritage

Listen, Draw Play 3 combines three of the things we love most in the whole wide world – drawing, playing and the number three. Goodness, this game is perfect.

If you’ve played any of the other Draw Play games, you’ll know what to expect here – you draw a line with your mouse and then control a man who runs along it to a get a flag. Draw Play 3 doesn’t add much to the formula, but it doesn’t really need to – it’s brilliant simplicity as it is.

SLACKERJACK – Factory Balls 2

by Stuart Heritage

Remember Factory Balls? The game where you had to run a factory that made balls? Sheesh, that was one exciting game. And now here’s Factory Balls 2 – so you’d better get ready for a THRILL RIDE!

OK, we’re selling Factory Balls 2 short a little here. It’s actually a painfully fiendish puzzle game. Yes Factory Balls 2 asks you to make a number of balls, but to do it you’ll need patience and a mind that works three or four steps ahead. Pull a ball out, colour it to match the model ball and continue. Factory Balls 2 will test your mind and long-range thinking abilities quite a lot.

SLACKERJACK – Boom Bot 2

by Stuart Heritage

Hooray! It’s Boom Bot 2! Real, genuine Boom Bot 2 made by the makers of Boom Bot – not another one of those poxy, chucked-together Boom Bot player packs.

So you know what you’ll get with Boom Bot 2 – the same old game where you get to an exit by using the blast force from various bombs and blocks – but because it’s a genuine sequel, you can rest assured that all the levels have been well thought-out and tested properly. Quality guaranteed, as it were.

SLACKERJACK – SeppuKuties

by Stuart Heritage

Since Happy Tree Friends is one of the best things ever invented and online games are fun, something that managed to combine the two would the best thing in history, right? RIGHT?

Actually, not far off. SeppuKuties is a platformy puzzler with one big twist. Notice in the picture there are hundreds of little cuddly animals? They all know that to reach the end of the game they’ll have to sacrifice their lives. Maybe they’ll die jumping for a key, or maybe they’ll hurl themselves onto spikes so that their friends can use their twisted corpses as stepping stones. That’s the mangled beauty of SeppuKuties, and we fully expect you to love it.

SLACKERJACK – Splitter

by Stuart Heritage

We’ve always said, give us a game where the cursor is a massive knife and we’ll be the happiest people on Earth. So with that in mind, Splitter, you’ve made us insanely happy.

What’s more, Splitter isn’t just a game where you chop stuff up willy-nilly – it’s all tactical. In Splitter you need to get a ball to a goal by manipulating its surroundings with a knife. Chop away blocks, cut strings, play with balance – it’s all part of Splitter and, goodness, do we love it for that.

SLACKERJACK – Straw Hat Samurai

by Stuart Heritage

Ah, the Samurai. If we ever wanted to get chopped into shards by a screaming maniac, we’d hope that it’d be done by a Samurai. They’re so respectful and stuff.

The Samurai forms the basis of today’s Slackerjack – a game called Straw Hat Samurai, where you play a Samurai with a straw hat. And pretty nifty it is, too – you control your blade strokes with your mouse, allowing you to chop up your enemies with almost balletic grace. We could play Straw Hat Samurai forever.

SLACKERJACK – Shoot

by Stuart Heritage

Simplicity is the key to a happy life, we’re always being told that. Which is why, when we go into a supermarket these days, we shoplift. By cutting out the payment stage, we’ve simplified our life by a third. Bingo.

And speaking of simple, here’s Shoot. Shoot is so simple that its title is the only instruction you need to play it. Shoot’s a side-scrolling shooting game where you move from left to right shooting stuff. Simple. Not as simple as not playing, granted, but if you’d simplified everything in your life completely then you’d end up with really smelly pants.
