January... what a great month. Folded: * Volkswagen Golf ‘Fight’ advert (this old dude kicks ass!) * Frost/Nixon (good/film) * Poirot re-runs over Christmas (nice, cosy TV.. .but now we’re back in the real world, and it sucks) * Columbia Cream (not too sweet, not too sickly, the tang of a decent single malt, perfect for ‘detoxing’ or whatever they call it) * Lakeview Terrace (tough, miserable, gripping - have a good time) Creased: * Star Stories’ overuse of the Basic Instinct ‘leg crossing’ music (still a funny series, but the constant reliance on Jerry Goldsmith’s creepy Instinct score to indicate a twist in the story was seriously annoying) * Finding a home for unwanted Christmas presents (comedy socks are great, if they’re funny. If they’re not they’re just cheap undergarments that shrink in the wash) * Using Pirate language on Facebook (all good fun until you want to change the settings and then you’re screwed) * Lily Allen (she’s got The Fear; she’s got some of the most self indulgent lyrics ever) * Morgan Freeman’s leather jacket/goatee combo in Kiss The Girls (twelve years on and time has done this get-up no favours at all)

Golden Globes front-runners include Doubt, Frost/Nixon and Revolutionary Road. So far so miserable. But Batman got a look-in too, with one nomination for, oh, the dead chap. Joy.
