An American Horror Story: Fashion at the Grammys 2014

January 28th, 2014 By Krysta Fitzpatrick

spookyscaryI will argue with anyone who will listen about how American Horror Story: Coven is hands down the best season of American Horror Story in every way possible. Those bad bitches make my week! Well, if you tuned in to the Grammys on Sunday night, you’d see that apparently I’m not the only big fan of American Horror Story: Coven.

This year’s Grammys were like my fashion dreams come true. So much spooky witch fashion, it was Coven meets The Craft and I died and went to all black heaven. Madonna was like The Supreme of the Grammys and she brought her entire witches in training army with her. If you don’t know what I mean by Supreme, you maybe shouldn’t be reading a blog with a lot of AHS references.

30 Years Later, Cyndi Lauper Still Just Wants to Have Fun

June 4th, 2013 By Chris Chambers

cyndi-lauperThere’s hardly anyone on earth more awesome than Cyndi Lauper. Just look at her back in the 80s?with that hair and the clothes pins all over. She’s?like old school-Madonna’s quirky, unslutty little sister with a much better singing voice. She’s on The Goonies soundtrack, twice. And she basically rules.

Jump ahead a few decades and?Cyndi is?still wacky,?if somewhat more mainstream … still singing,?still touring, and?recently Tony-nominated?for composing the score to?Broadway’s new darling, Kinky Boots.

To?mark the?30th anniversary of??Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” …?one of the greatest pop songs ever … some of?Cyndi’s friends surprised her by putting together a?pretty awful, but still touching?video?of them lip syncing to the song.

Cyndi Lauper To Be Executed For Vile Act During 9/11 Tribute [Video]

September 12th, 2011 By Mof Gimmers

America is feeling very, very patriotic at the moment as they unify in memory over the events of 9/11, when some planes went and killed a load of people. Horrifying stuff, not least for the pointless memories of those on twitter saying “I remember watching it on TV”

And America is jumpy enough at the moment. First off, the American Army declared war on Soulja Boy after he said they were rubbish… and now, they’ve got Cyndi Lauper to invade too.

That’s because Lauper did the worst thing imaginable. She got the words wrong to the American National Anthem. As well you know, messing with the Star Spangled Banner, or indeed, mocking the bit of cloth that is their flag, is punishable by death.

Top 10 Songs You Didn’t Know Were Cover Versions

September 20th, 2012 By Mof Gimmers

For the most part, doing a cover version is a signal to the rest of the world that you’re clean out of ideas. Unless, of course, you performed in the ’50s and ’60s, in which case, you were actively encouraged to never, ever write a song unless you were The Beatles or Burt Bacharach.

That’s not to say that all cover versions are rubbish… although most are.

No, some cover versions improve on the original – many prefer Jimi Hendrix’s version of ‘All Along The Watchtower’ to Bob Dylan’s. Most people prefer Jimi’s ‘Hey Joe’ to the original. What? You didn’t know that was a cover?

Lady Gaga Is Influential Says, Oh, Cyndi Lauper. Never Mind

April 30th, 2010 By Stuart Heritage

You know, as we were teasing our hair into the shape of a telephone this morning, we had a sudden thought.

“Isn’t Lady Gaga influential?” Then, later on, as we were trying to do up our giant dress – you know, the one made of frosted glass that’s an identical scale model of the Pompidou Centre – without burning it on our boxer shorts made of lit cigarettes, we thought it again. “Isn’t Lady Gaga influential?” Then, even later on, as we were making a new song by playing an old Madonna record and sporadically hitting a keyboard that we’d rigged to say the word ‘bitch’ in time with it, we finally decided. Yes, Lady Gaga is influential.

And we’re not the only ones who think that. Time magazine thinks that Lady Gaga is so influential that it’s got Cyndi Lauper to write a little piece about her. Cyndi Lauper, don’t you know.
