DVD Review: Buried

Plenty of the rich and fabulous have been buried in recent memory: Diff’rent Strokes actor, Gary Coleman, stroking kids musician, Michael Jackson and one of those Corey kids from the ?80s.

Yet, it's hard to imagine anyone whose managed to do it in such a captivating way as Ryan Reynolds in the suffocating thriller, Buried.

Hitchcockian in its nature, Buried has a premise that can't help but intrigue, as one truck driver, Paul Conroy (Reynolds), finds himself waking up in a coffin buried six-feet under in the Iraqi desert. What ensures is a taut, gripping and, needless to say, claustrophobic film, that ensnares the audience up until its breathtaking climax.

Awesome Or Off-Putting: The Aurora UFO Crash

aurora-spaceship-articleAwesome or Off-Putting is a weekly delve into cryptozoology, ufology, aliens, medical marvels, scientific wonders, secret societies, government conspiracies, cults, ghosts, EVPs, ancient artifacts, strange facts, odd sightings or just the plain unexplainable.

When a tin foil spaceship crashed all over Roswell, New Mexico, the residents there must have been overcome with anticipation of the tourist dollars that would soon stuff their wallets. As Roswell sat back and watched the green fly in (pun intended), Aurora, Texas must have felt slighted.

After all, they had a spaceship crash like 50 years previously – and theirs included a now-buried little green body.

Michael Jackson’s Dead Brain Makes A Break For It

michael-jackson-secretIn the years following Beethoven’s death the world’s chief regret was that nobody had pried out his brain and attached it to a bunch of wires and electric pencils. Why, had that been the case, perhaps we’d have just one more brilliant symphony. Yes, if that were the case perhaps Ludwig’s genius could have added some much needed atmosphere to all those Pat Boone albums.

But that was a different time, and the accepted ethics of yester-year likely wouldn’t have allowed for zombification of any sort.

Lucky for Michael Jackson‘s removed brain, we’re no longer confined by such primitive notions.
