When someone is being a bit wet, it isn’t uncommon for someone else to yell “MAN UP!” at them. Lady GaGa has done just that by gender-bending in a photo shoot for Vogue Hommes Japan.

The news, when we originally ran the story, saw us wanting to create a crude mangina with the aid of some sellotape. After having to take the tape off and tear most of our pubic hair off, we realise this was a bad idea, or indeed, that we should collectively start shaving our balls.

Anyway, Lady GaGa’s male alter ego is called Jo Calderone and he has spoken in an interview in the next issue of the Japanese magazine.

The cover of the rag sees the Bad Romance singer in a white shirt, black trousers and cropped black hair slicked back like Elvis. Does this remind anyone of the gender bending undertaken by Bowie and Lou Reed in the ’70s?

The feature also includes an interview with ‘Calderone’, who describes himself as a mechanic from Sicily, Italy.

Discussing his relationship with GaGa, he said:

“I met her at a shoot Nick Knight was doing. She’s f**kin’ beautiful, and funny, and interesting.

“I was a little nervous for Nick to start shooting. She said, ‘Don’t be baby, you were born this way’. I took her out after. The rest is private.”

Calderone’s issue of Vogue Hommes Japans hits shelves on September 10 and Backseat Cuddler have some pictures of the shoot if you’re interested.

Boy George. You know him right? Last seen picking up spent condoms off the floor in America. He did litter picking as community service before that as well. Anyway, he’s a tragic old hag who really isn’t in a position to offer anyone any advice of any sort because ‘been there, seen it all’ doesn’t count if you’re still a massive liability.

Which brings us clumsily to the fact that Boy George has questioned why Lady GaGa felt the need to discuss her use of drugs.

Get that. Boy George questioning someone’s behaviour. Someone who not too long ago handcuffed a male escort up whilst doped out of his massively round head.

This all comes on the back of GaGa saying last week that she is an “occasional” drug user.

“If Lady GaGa were about to be exposed as a drug user I would understand her recent confession to Vanity Fair that she is an ‘occasional’ coke sniffer.”

“As a recovering addict who knows how dangerous ‘occasional’ use is, I can think of no reason for GaGa to reveal this to her young audience.”

Because, Mr O’Dowd, most people can take a couple of pills in a club and not end up strung out for decades.

“One has to wonder how much of a grip GaGa has on things. Up until now she has seemed almost annoyingly professional and focused and this seems out of character!”

If you were born in the era where songs likes Karma Chameleon were considered acceptable to own, then we feel sorry for you.

Looking back at it now, the record is really poor. Almost U2 poor. With Boy George singing about karma, perhaps he thought the mystic force would bestow tons of positive energy towards him.

Clearly this wasn’t the case for poor Boy George. After all, no normal person can tell you another Culture Club song. Then, of course, the old drugs don’t help and neither does chaining up male whores in your house. Despite getting a jail sentence reduced for the whore thing, Boy George is suffering now. The probation service believe he is danger of media attacks if was to go into the Celebrity Big Brother house. We wonder why.

Even though the format has been beaten to death, there’s something fun about watching famous people put themselves through torture. Do the public watch so they don’t have to read pointless autobiographies and instead see a warm physical person? Or because we want to see someone pierce their own tongue with a baked bean tin and piece of fish wire?

Do they do it for the love of meeting other famous people? Of course not, there is almost always a silly amount of money thrown at people to degrade themselves for a couple of weeks. The BBC report that Boy George has been offered somewhere in the region of £200,000 to appear – an amount which is a substantially higher than a pleb of the street would win in the normal summer edition.

So what’s stopping Boy George from entering the Celebrity Big Brother jungle on ice? Ah, a little thing called being arrested for beating up a male hooker after chaining him up. Amazingly, this sort of thing wasn’t deemed socially acceptable behaviour and Boy George was handed a 15 month sentence back in January. However the sentence was cut with various conditions put in place. Quite likely, he wasn’t allowed to have many male friends over for tea. Though he is a free man to buy a paper and visit Hampstead Heath, the BBC reports:

“London Probation refused the singer’s request to appear on Big Brother as he is still on licence and wears an electronic tag.”

What a bummer. How can we cope without a good fashioned calamity popstar on the programme? Hmm perhaps the producers of the show have some other equally weird people to drop in the house for amusement? Oh look! The BBC again reports:

Remember how Boy George once cameoed on The A-Team, a show about men jailed for a crime they didn’t commit?

Well now Boy George has more in common with them than ever. Because he too has been jailed for a crime that… oh no, wait, Boy George did chain that Norwegian prostitute up and threaten to kill him, didn’t he? In that case, ignore everything we just said.

Boy George has been sentenced to 15 month in jail for falsely imprisoning a manwhore. Logic states that he’ll be out in seven for good behaviour, but reality states that he probably won’t because he’s a dickhead.

When Boy George wrote Do You Really Want To Hurt Me, there’s a fairly solid chance that he wasn’t picturing a scenario in which a tattooed serial arsonist has got him pinned to the inside of a prison cell by his throat and is waving a rudimentary stabbing device close to his eye because of his reputation as a homosexual.

Which is ironic, really, since that’s probably how Boy George is going to be spending the next 15 months of his life. You see, Boy George has just been sentenced to 15 months in jail for the crime of a male Norwegian prostitute to a wall against his will and loudly threatened to kill him that he was found guilty of last month. The Guardian reports:

Boy George was today sentenced to 15 months in jail for falsely imprisoning a male escort by handcuffing him to a wall and beating him with a metal chain. Passing sentence at Snaresbrook crown court, east London, Judge David Radford said the singer’s offence was “so serious that only an immediate sentence of imprisonment can be justified”.

Of course, at the time Boy George believed that he was well within his rights to chain a Norwegian manwhore to his wall, threaten to kill and then beat him with a chain when he tried to escape, because he honestly believed that the prostitute looked at his computer funny or something – an accusation that we also thought could be punishable by chaining and beating and death threats. Boy George, king of the bald, fat, previously androgynous 1980s homosexual popstars, has been found guilty of handcuffing a Norwegian male prostitute to a wall, beating him with a chain and threatening to kill him, and now he’s probably going to jail for it.

It just goes to show – never copy Boy George. It was true when you decided to decided to grow those nasty white-boy dreadlocks and it’s true now.

Poor Boy George, he’s such a victim of circumstance. But rather than being armed with a sweeping brush and a dashing outfit, he’ll be back to what he’s more used to. Well, he’ll be back to what he was more used to a decade or two back when he still had a career beyond ‘celebrity’ DJing.

Best of all is the news that this selfless, humble superstar is to provide the cleaners and rubbish pickers of New York all the entertainment they could ever want for free! They won’t even have to pay him in discarded, soiled underpants or anything. Georgey really is an example to us all.

In a statement (possibly) tearfully released to the media, the former A-Team cameo extraordinaire said:

“The people I worked alongside showed great kindness to me at a difficult time. I wanted to thank them all in a way that would show my appreciation.”

Hecklerspray can’t help but think that a better way to show your appreciation would be to not play for these poor souls, who are all likely to feel some kind of sympathy for the limelight-starved Culture Club member, alongside the inevitable feeling that they have to attend. No one likes it when you feel you’re being forced into going to something, and 5,000 binmen going to watch Boy George?

Actually, that’s a bit surreal.

No, we feel that a far better way to thank the tireless efforts of the New York Sanitation Department would be to say ‘thank you for your help’ and send them a card. Organising a pop concert when you’re clearly past it and nobody has cared about your career for the last two decades is a bit rich.

Yes, we'll admit that his Past Achievements section is pretty good – between 1982 and 1987 he's put 'Global Iconic Megastar' – but it's his Interests profile that's stopped him from getting work. 'Painting the underside of my chin black to make me look thinner' and 'chaining male prostitutes to walls against their will'? What the hell? Why can't Boy George just write 'socialising' like everyone else?

Only, actually, Boy George says he doesn't chain male prostitutes to walls, against their will or otherwise. Although this might have seemed like a low-key appearance, Boy George is actually setting up a full trial quite nicely.
