Weezer are a peculiar little pop band. They know how to stay in people’s minds without ever making a record that crosses over big-time. Of course, that doesn’t include the ‘Buddy Holly’ single and its brilliant Happy Days vid.

Despite making consistently decent LPs, the band have outlived others thanks to a playfulness in marketing. They made the Weezer snuggy, got fans involved in one of the videos for their singles and now, they’re putting actor Jorge Garcia, aka Hurley from Lost on the front of their newest and eighth LP.

No really. There’s a picture of it over the jump to prove it.

Weezer mainman, Rivers Cuomo says:

“We struggled super hard trying to come up with an album title, trying to find some kind of phrase that summed up the whole aesthetic behind the album: ‘Heavy Mental,’ ‘Smaller Than Life’… I was coming up with all kinds of stuff, but ultimately, we just went with some random word that doesn’t really have anything to do with anything. I just loved this photo of Jorge Garcia — it just had this amazing vibe. We didn’t want to do a fourth self-titled record and we knew people would refer to it as ‘the Hurley record’ even if left it without that title, so we just called it ‘Hurley.’ No words are on the cover because all we wanted was his amazing face.”

Don’t get too excited Lost fanatics. This won’t be a concept LP about the show (although someone probably should make one as they’d no doubt make a killing) because Cuomo didn’t even watch it until meeting Garcia.

“I only made it through season two, so I was really nervous hanging out with Hurley/Jorge recently, because I didn’t want to hear something about how it all resolves, or overhear anyone else talking about it. I really like the show though.”

And here it is. It still feels like this is all a big prank though… are Weezer just an internet meme now?

Katy Perry burst onto the popscene with a selection of tracks that were either going to go and die in the needy-outrage bin or, as it transpired, dazzle Ver Kidz by being so gratingly brash and juggernautesque that no-one stood a chance.

Then, something changed. Some stayed rooted in the ‘She Does My Head In’ camp whilst everyone else started to ‘get it’. By getting it, that means a lot of women suddenly started liking her camp ’50s schtick and men liked looking at her rather sociable boobs. Boobs, as it happens, that can fire cream out of them. And then she went and spoiled it all by getting hitched up with a spindly legged Thesaurus.

But fear not flesh fans… Katy Perry’s new album has a lot of skin and a whole lack of Russell Brand (and we have a picture of it over the jump).

Her new album, which just happens to be called ‘Teenage Dream’, features Perry lying down in a cloud of candy floss (or cotton candy if you’re one of those American types).

The frolicking popster lies in the buff looking all pouty.

In a press release that landed in the inbox, Perry says:

“The day I found Will Cotton, I knew I wanted to live in his cinematic cotton candy world. A fantastically art-directed music video and one piece of timeless album artwork later, I can proudly say I am more than a fan.”

Yep, it was Cotton who made her teeth-rotting promotional video for ‘California Gurls.’

Perry’s baps have been getting a fair bit of airtime lately as she nearly got the out for Esquire UK last month. In fairness, she does have an ample bosom which does indeed distract from the daft things she says sometimes.

Anyway, if you’re wondering, ‘Teenage Dream’ will be out next month and most of you will probably steal it from torrent sites. Here’s the wipe-clean artwork you’ll be missing.

Scarlett Johansson (the actress – and now singer – famous for having Scarlett Johansson’s boobs on her chest; you know the one?) has blasted two of hecklerspray’s most cherished celebrities!

The outrageous harlot has dared to declare that the musical talent of our Paris Hilton and our Lindsay Lohan is not quite her cup of tea.

How dare she? Just who does she think she is? Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan have a put a lot of good, honest, hard-work into getting where they are today, yet where is the respect? Do you think those cocks suck themselves?

No, of course they don’t. If they did humanity would have become extinct a long, long time ago.

It takes a good deal of effort to say ‘ah’ for that amount of time and with that amount of people. There are literally girlfriends out there, all over the world right now (possibly even reading this), who wouldn’t even say ‘ah’ to their own boyfriends for much more than a minute each week.

Sometimes less.

It is because of this abhorrent crime to humanity that Scarlett can say what she damn well wants, but the fact remains that Paris and Lindsay are a rare breed indeed, and hecklerspray will continue to salute these pioneers in all of their artistic ventures, futile as they may be.

Scarlett told Spin Magazine:

I have no relationship with either Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton, even as far as my lifestyle or the music I listen to. They probably made music that fits with their lifestyle – ‘Wouldn’t it be great if I were dancing to my own song in the club?’ My album is more suited to my lifestyle. I live a very low-key life.

Yeah, you better hope you do, Johansson, or else you’ll be joining 50 Cent on hecklerspray’s hit-list.

One difference between our girls and Scarlett though, is that Scarlett (who is soon to release ‘Anywhere I Lay My Head’ – a Tom Waits cover album – making her little more than jumped up karaoke singer) has received at least one rave review about her musical ability from someone, albeit that someone being Jessica Simpson – someone who wouldn’t know good music if she was grinding her for-hire-arse up against it – who told Esquire magazine:

I really respect her, and I think she’s an unbelievable talent at a young age. And she is unbelievably beautiful. Plus, she gets to work with the best of the best.

Is she really that unbelievable? Granted, her boobs are unfathomable, but do any of you really find that watching Scarlett Johansson act makes you question your whole belief system regarding the upper-limits of human talent?

What Jessica actually offers is a nice, but essentially trite, and ultimately invalid, appraisal. You’re gonna have to come up with better than the child-talk of Jessica Simpson, Johansson, to pull hecklerspray away from the lure of reporting Paris and Lindsay’s day to day activities.

If you want to receive our support, then it’s time to do what any self respecting female artist would do: Toss your artistic integrity into the abyss and open wide.
